i lived in mesa for 2 years and this became an obsession of mine.. to assume goldfield or the bulldog mine is one in the same as the "lost
Dutchman" isn't true. no ore recovered from either of those sites remotely resemble ore that Jacob Waltz had at his time of death. supposedly it
was in a rose quartz matrix, and rose quartz is pretty rare in nature. as far as i know there are only 2 places in the world where it has been mined
and neither are in Arizona. this leads a lot of people to think he found a hidden cache from someone before him or he high-graded ore from mines he
worked at before and stashed the high-graded ore to retrieve at his will, however, i don't know of anywhere where its been documented gold ore in a
rose quartz matrix. All of this accompanied with a few other stories of people who ran across it accidentally, i believe there is at least 2 or 3
different stories where people follow a wounded animal and stumble across it. Even the Apaches have disclosed that there is a secret cave in the
superstitions with a large rose and white quartz/gold loaded veins. supposedly at one time in the distant past the area was pretty heavily mined with
chimney shafts, i think they were Spanish in origin, but when the Apaches found out that one of their most sacred places (an area where celebrated
chiefs and warriors were burried too) was being disturbed, they expelled the foreigners and concealed the area. According to Edgar Cayce the area has
been rearranged and disguised a number of times throughout history by a couple different groups of people. His reading on this particular subject
seem exceptionally vague, as if something was unconsciously blocking his communication to keep the area secret. Its also been stated that Edgar had
trouble doing readings that involved people becoming wealthy at the expense of others.
to conclude, if anyone every goes out to the superstitions, go in a group, fully armed, with way more food and water than you think you'll need. To
tell the honest truth i personally believe i could put myself within 300 ft of the cave, however i believe that the Apaches still watch the area but
in a more limited capacity and i've also heard of them stocking the area with rattlesnakes with the rattle cut off.. I would love to go out to the
spot but i'd only go with a decent size group of very close friends who are all well armed and capable marksmen. and like all other dutchies i'd
love to hear where you all think it is, while i give a false description of where i think it is..lol
