I read about this over a year ago and read the article about the evidence he presented. The evidence only shows that they organized a religion and accentuated Jesus' life to use it to control people. The stories are probably still real, but may have been glorified a bit. You have to remember, it was the interpretation of the writings that was being twisted and some of the copies were changed. Not many people got to even open a bible, the interpretation of the words in it was controlled. It still is interpreted to fit the beliefs of the religion. But people can now read it.

I did see some discrepancies in the bible, but not really that many. It has been gone through in the past to make sure it is in compliance. You have to understand the societies of old a little to understand it and also that things translated also get altered. Interpreters try to get as close a concept as they can to translate things, but even translating the full meaning between cultures today when there is a language interpreted is not fully correct. People doing this translation sometimes know something is being misrepresented and try to find the best words to try to make sense of it.

The guy who presented the info from the conference did not make a good case in my opinion. He did not prove that Jesus did not exist, only that they used his words to create a religion that did not match what his words said. Whether he died on the cross, I have my doubts about that, not being convinced one of his followers did not take his place. I do not automatically believe what I am told so research both sides of the issue. Nothing that Jesus says in the bible is really bad, but people twist the words to fit their beliefs.

Yet another thread attacking the Christians. It is laughable how everyone and everything is off-limits to ridicule unless you are Christian, white male or overweight. Hopefully these last three groups that are targets of bigotry will be overcome.

Really? I mean... really? Religion is basically the only thing we're supposed to have to respect, no matter what, and not question at all. What reality do you live in?

I thought the fact that Jesus never existed was common knowledge....
Except for the people stupid enough to believe in such fallacies.

Why is anything critical of Christianity regarded as anti-Christian? Regardless of whether or not the individual's theories about Jesus being a Roman construction are correct, he clearly stated he did not want to cause Christians any harm. It hardly sounds like an assault on Christianity, but rather, the positing of counterpoints.

You people have to stop with the Christian persecution complex. It gets tiring.

Ah yes, this is most interesting

I was too tired to look for something more entertaining however this should suffice.

They have many names, i have a book called creating magical entities. I've read of people who have created such entities however, one must be very careful when slam dancing with the devil.

Egregores, Watchers, Creation, Astral Gods, Elementals & Thought forms or whatever you choose to call these subliminal suggestive beings. And Yes, they are most definately Parasitic of the worst possible kind.

I believe Humans have worshipped these entities through the aeons and that they were nothing more than 'thought forms', Conjoured up by twisted controlling families in power to create Religion and total control over humanity.

Sounds like hogwash to me. The date of the article being in 2013 is a dead giveaway. Not to mention, why is it only announced on some random site? News like this would be HUGE. Especially definitive proof of Jesus being a myth.

very fishy indeed. I guess the rest of the world will have to find a different way to attack overweight, white, men and their religious beliefs! Darn those Christians, they've outsmarted us again!

But Jesus IS a Myth just like the Zoroastrian God who died on the same day and Died the same way as the guys who created the 'self proclaimed Christ'. Oh the list is a long one...

There must be a higher power or we could not be here.

And you're telling me not to have a closed mind?

I'm still trying to figure things out but will never keep a closed mind where I ridicule people for their beliefs on the internet just because I think it makes me look smart to other members.

You mean like Christians have been doing for 2000 years?

You're right, my post was kind of conflicting in the way it was written. It may seem closed minded to you but I do keep an open mind to either possibility, as previously mentioned none of us can prove anything so all we have is our opinions based on our own research and experience. At this time I do not believe in the Abrahamic God. The higher power I feel is spiritual but I am unable to explain it. Perhaps I'm delusional?

As for Christians which you mentioned, I hold no ill feelings towards Christians and respect their right to worship as long as they stay out of my face with all their bible thumping, in fact I believe the teachings of Christ to be a good way to live even if he's all made up.

I've studied some of my father's books on theology and I believe Christ existed but he could have been a fraud or over exaggerated. I could definitely be wrong though.

If there is a god I am really pissed at it for the state of this world, perhaps that is selfish of me but I don't care. This benevolent GOD we keep hearing about must be rather sick and twisted if you were to believe the scriptures.

I try not to judge, but we are all guilty of unfair judgement.

I just wanted to apologize for my aggressive behavior in this thread last night.

Sorry if I was rude, and if I derailed the thread I apologize for that as well.

I was rather heated with all the judgement being passed around but after reading my posts just now I realized I was being a hypocrite and judging as well.

If there was less judgement and more understanding the world would be much better off. Unfortunately TPTB have us all divided and conquered while we fight each other instead of them which is their plan to keep us distracted.

We are all being played.

Clearly not, since a number of people have explained to you that Atheism is not a belief system, or a religion, yet you continue to attribute it to those titles. Respect? I sure haven't seen much from you.

And I do respect your beliefs... when it's practiced in the privacy of your own life. Of course, we both know that is not the case with the vast majority of individuals that span through all of the worlds religions.

You want to believe the planet rests on a giant turtle's back? Go at it! and have fun doing so.

You want to believe that a magical space being created everything and sent his son down, which is also himself, to save his creation from things he let happen? Be my guest! Your free to believe whatever you wish.

You want to believe that an evil tyrannical alien captured and tortured other aliens and let their souls inhabit humans, making humans have negative emotions? I'm glad you're happy believing in that.

However, don't push it on your children and act as if those things make up reality. Don't push your beliefs into public school systems and claim it is equal to actual evidence and testing, whilst not allowing to actually question your beliefs in the first place. Don't place signs everywhere that profess redemption if only others accept your faith. Don't belittle those who are different from you, or who don't follow your belief simply because your book says your special, more special than everyone else.

This is what people like myself cannot stand. Religion makes a massive attempt to come off as this innocent thing, and if it only applied to an individuals point of view, it would be. But it doesn't. It's forced on everyone and everything. And when it is forced, that is when people will ultimately question your faith, and put your actions into place.

Heck, we can't even have a civilized conversation on an obviously fake 'discovery' if it includes your belief. Let's say this article was actually true, and there was scores of evidence to back up the claims that your belief was all a sham. Would you then consider leaving your faith? I have my doubts, and that level of exclusion from reality is what is dangerous to force onto others.

Interesting premise. And an interesting belief system. Even as an atheist I want to see the "proof" that he bases this upon. I read the source article and will be reading the primary source closely just to see what it says. If true, it kind of rocks my "Jesus was a solar god based upon multiple solar god myths" paradigm, which I thought explained things thoroughly.

ETA: After reading this thread it seems that this particular new item is not so "news worthy."

As I said above. Christianity has certainly put in their time forcing their beliefs and theology on everyone in the world. But that's ok because they're the "moral majority". I think they can handle a few plates full of what they've been dishing out for the past few millennia.

True Christians haven't "forced" their beliefs on anyone.

Actually they have. True Xians believe in Hell (as do most insane belief systems of religious control) and therefore don't have to use physical force when they can use FEAR to do it for them. This in turn causes Psychological Trauma in Human Beings by People who use Hell to inject fear while at the same time injecting the belief of an Unconditional and loving God, thus, creating the perfect environment for mind control subjects.
