The 2 scenarios are completely different. The woman chose her ending life 8 times. Scheduled appointments like she was getting her teeth cleaned. All she now regrets.

The tragic shooting of the child was accidental and unplanned.

Do you have a link to the "apology" you're referring to? That'd be handy.

The key word is "Sell". Women donate their fetus/tissue, PP charges a fee to keep and process the fetus/tissues. When my daughter was a post doc, she used human fetal liver stem cells for genetic manipulation of the aids virus. She was often the post doc who would go pick the tissue/fetus/organ up from wherever it was being kept.

It's illegal to "sell" body parts. But it's not illegal to charge a fee for body parts. George Bush banned stem cell research, Barrack Obama lifted that ban. Thank goodness!

What strikes me about this discussion is the absolute hard partisan divide.

Planned Parenthood lost the moderates on this and that is what has them and their legion of supporters scrambling. It's evident by the ultra partisans that are absolutely babysitting this thread to run rough shod on anyone not swallowing the blue pill on this stomach-wretching video, all 2 and half hours of it. NOT the "edited" version. Cuz, really, pick UR poison, any version of this video is sickening.

And I say that as a pro-choice, two time Obama supporter who wants to vote for Bernie.

It's intellectually dishonest and, in fact, kind of mercenary and twisted to be so dogmatic at the expense of mothers and thier babies/fetuses/tissue and in the face of your own humanity.

Let go of your talking points and view this video from the eyes of a 15 or 16 year old scared young woman. Put aside your politics and think of the young mothers who rely on Planned Parenthood to help course correct their unfortunate situations/bad decisions and think of whether this video, edited or otherwise, will bolster their resolve or play into their fears.

That doctor and Planned Parenthood stole our confidence, not the videographer, he/she only revealed what was already there. THAT'S why Planned Parenthood supporters are so defensive, they are fighting their own cognitve dissonance.

One cannot serve two masters. Planned Parenthood cannot serve both women and fetal tissue merchants ethically.

I've repeatedly said that I am pro-choice but that doesn't change the facts about PP or Margaret Sanger or the disgusting underlying philosophy (eugenics) which started this entire debate. It is what it is. I accept PP and Sanger for what they are/were.

PP is a BUSINESS. And Sanger was a person who believed that certain humans didn't have the right to be born. Don't be mad at me for stating these facts.

And another thing - whether you call it "fetal tissue" or "baby parts" - it's all the same thing.....and what you call it is just semantics. Clearly, PP is in the business of providing body parts/fetal tissue to biomedical companies that use the tissue/body parts for various purposes (I wont say 'selling' because I don't want anyone's panties in a bunch).

Sugarcoat it if it makes you feel better, but this is not really a hoax. It might be considered 'hyperbole' but not an outright hoax.

I watched the video too, both of them, and no matter which one it is, shes still saying the same thing.......

I read earlier that PP issued an apology for the ladies insensitive presentation of their program....

So its clear they ARE doing this........

Whether you think its "within the law" or not.......does law dictate morality ?

How can you look at this and say its the right thing to do?

Im pro choice but this is monstrous.........

I have watched the video in full. It doesn't say what you say it says. Remember, this video was produced by a known fraudster. How does that not go into anyone's "unbiased, non-partisan" opinions? The so-called "Center for Medical Progress" is a sham and a fraud. The founder is an anti-choice zealot.

None of those facts matter, eh? The set up, the logistics, the basis behind the video ... you'd just like it to be judged in the vacuum of your own preconceptions?

I didn't watch the video, because I don't need to. As I said earlier, my daughter used to work with human fetal livers, whose stem cells are particularly valuable because of their versatility. Live stem cells can grow into just about any kind of cell, like lung cells, skin cells, etc.

I think using donated aborted fetal parts is the right thing to do. They have the potential of alleviating so much pain and sorrow. Good things can arise from something that seems so bad.

When did I ever say it was "unethical" please show me where. I've stated nothing of the sort. I will say I find it unseemly - but I suppose there is an argument to be made that if the fetal tissue/body parts are useful to help treat (or possibly cure) other medical conditions then logically I cannot see why the tissue/body parts should not be used for that.

However, I want nothing at all to do with any of it. I wouldn't work for PP for all the tea in China.....Legal or not, this is not something I would want to take part in.

The video has accomplished what was intended. Congressional hearings. A national chance to trot out all the fallacious lies and garbage that the anti-choice crowd uses.

We could spend all night here arguing about the facts, but the truth is ... the facts don't matter.

The Congress is dominated by believers, as is this thread.

Gryphon is not trying to proove anything. He/she/it (never know which pronoun to use these days) has nothing to say in defense of these atrocities; they are indefensible. True to form, he/she/it resorts to deflection (religion, guns) and attempts to discredit sources and opinions (video has been edited, waaaah!).

Of course, no Progressive is above using the government to silence the opposition. I wouldn't be surprised if some legal rep for Susan G. Komen had an extra email to delete tomorrow morning.
