Does Knowing Matter?

The news we all fear. That moment when the doctor says. Why should it matter?

The news we all fear. That inevitable moment you hear those words.

When you are given that declaration of your mortality.

Why does knowing matter? You have been given that reality.

There comes the "bucket list".

All the things you need to do before you "kick the bucket".

Why does knowing matter?

Can you not live your life the same way without knowing?

Making decisions should not come down to knowing.

Every day is the last day, until you wake up the next day.

So, why does knowing matter? It doesn't. It shouldn't. But for some reason it does.

The human body has an expiration date. The soul does not. Living every day as it is your last should be the norm. It is not. Until you get the news of your impending demise.

Why does knowing matter?

Get that "bucket list" out and rip it up. Make choices without knowing. You do not need to wait. You do not need to know when it ends. If there are things you want to accomplish, just do them, now, today.

Knowing does not matter.

My only conclusion on why "knowing matters" would be that a lot of people need that sense of comfort. Almost as if it would give them a sense of relief. Other than that, you do make some very logical points.

Its the "reality" and finality of realizing it. We all know our time will come...but would rather not think about it day to day. We all-already know our time to live is finite....but don't really want to dwell on its reality any sooner than we have to...

How is their comfort helped by hearing a doctor tell them they only have x amount of time to live? I would rather live every day like it was my last in this human form regardless. Make the most of everyday, without being told you are going to die.

It is not about thinking, it is about doing with the knowledge that any day could be the last, whether a doctor tells you or not. I don't think about dying everyday, I make a conscious effort to live life to the fullest.

I do so as well. I am just more conscious each day...that Im reaching...hopefully SLOWLY...CRITICAL MASS.

Its gonna happen to everyone no matter what.

Do something for someone everyday, learn something new...try and make some small difference in the daily lives of others....
