Ok, not entirely sure where NADA got yhis 11years from but wiki says
the 2nd rover was launched in 2012...since the 1st one blunced and was upside down if i remember right...but anyways ...i thought this was comical
when i saw it
I think you are getting mixed up.
Two rovers that were part of the
Mars Exploration Rover Mission landed and deployed successfully in 2004. They were twin rovers named Spirit
and Opportunity. They both had a nominal mission that was designed to last 90 days, although it was thought they could go longer if their solar
panels did not get too dusty.
Spirit roved Mars for more than six years before getting irretrievably stuck in some sand. Opportunity is still roving today, more than 11 years
later.
A different rover landed in 2012 -- the Mars Science Laboratory "Curiosity" Rover

As for "landing upside-down", the Mars Exploration Rover landing craft opened in such a way that it would upright itself when the landing craft's
panels opened.

....i wounder who took the picture of the rover on mars? Lol
i2.wp.com...
That is the rover named "Sojourner" that landed on Mars in 1997 as part of the Mars Pathfinder Mission. That image was taken from the landing craft
that carried Sojourner to mars.
Here is a better image, showing a part of the lander portion of the craft.

So that makes four rovers successfully sent to Mars by NASA since 1997 (Sojourner, Spirit and Opportunity, and Curiosity).
