Because some christians need to be hated, they want to be hated, they see it as fufilment of divine will if they are hated, and they are happy to emulate christ in being hated and persecuted.

Lovely. We're all Masochists!

If you're comfortable enough sharing some experiences, I'd listen. Also interested in where things are now with the family if not too personal.

All the typical crap....I'm evil, I am against god, witches shouldn't live, I'm sure you know what I am talking about.....the hate spewed by "some" Christians if of a different faith, especially mine.

Flagellates no?

I do beleive that there is some truth in it, not all christians obviously, but there certainly are a sub set that really are looking for anything that can be perceived as a persecution, like not having manger scenes outside of government offices and the like.

I do not hate Christians. I do dislike the fact that when I go to a church and try and come closer to the one I call god that there are just as many serpents in the pews as there are in the streets (just my experience). I just want to go somewhere where I can reach god and once again feel the tranquilizing peace I once felt when he first smiled upon me and I recognized that he had.

Basically i am referring to the ones on this board... It seems that the majority of the people on this board tend to want to soley focus in on Christianity to try and destroy it.

Hmm... This is not an unreasonable question to ask. Speaking as one who isn't exactly fond of most Christians, I can say this. I have nothing against God, nothing against Jesus, and nothing against the Bible. I've been reading it and other religious texts since I was a child, and feel it has many good lessons, history, and is a fascinating read.

However, what I do have a problem with are self-righteous evangelists who feel like they have the right to impose their religious views on the rest of us who do not feel the same way. I won't even say that most Christians are like this, only the loudest ones. However, when you have a President or Congressman try to run the Country as if it were a Church, I start taking very serious umbrage to it.

Another thing that definitely irks me, and probably others like myself, is the sheer amount of hypocracy in most Christians I've ever met. "Do as I say, not as I do," seems to be the common theme. If anyone cares, I would be only too happy to share the story of the day I went from wanting to be a Methodist Minister to wanting to never again set foot in a Church. It had nothing to do with Jesus or God, it was because I was finally so completely filled with revulsion for the congregation that I could never again associate myself with such hypocrites.

You dont focus in on Islam, the religion that has parts that could be interpretted as preaching terrorism, instead you attack christianity, and some people even try to say its God's fault that man went on the crusades, when that is obviously a lie.

Well, for one thing, Islam never did anything to me or mine. They didn't persecute Ireland and Scotland, they didn't torture my ancestors in the name of an Inquisition and The Pope. They didn't cross the seas to slaughter my other ancestors in the name of Missionaries. They didn't cancel Halloween in my youth, they didn't commit hate crimes in my neighborhoods, they didn't form white-hooded arseheads and burn crosses in my friend's yards. They didn't force their religion down my throat. Each and every single Muslim I've ever known has been very tolerant of other peoples and religions. They never preached to me unless I specifically asked them to, to educate myself in their views. Every Muslim I've spoken to has been a great combination of intellectual, theologian, and hard worker, whereas the Christians I knew were lazy, and for the most part, uneducated about the Bible, spouting only what they were told that it said.

And if you think the Quraan is the only religious text to have passages that can be interpreted as supporting terrorism, I suggest you go back and read the Bible again. I'm not going to do your homework for you.

I am just so sick of you people pulling this crap. I will tell you what, anyone who can read Isiah, then read the Gospel, and still NOT be convinced that there is a God, and that Jesus was the Messiah, is lying to themselves. No matter WHAT religion you are. Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Aethist, Budhist, ANY form, i promise.

Yes, well, I think you just illustrated the reasons why the majority of us seem to be soured on Christianity. I've read the Bible in its entirety more times than most Christians have years under their belt, and the more I read it, the more convinced I am that Christians have no idea what Jesus was trying to say.

I'm observing all this from the outside, and I'm sorry but its funny. I am trying to imagine an alternate future where Jews in Israel realize that Will Rogers the Cherokee was the Son of G-d and that they must live their lives by His words or burn in Hell forever. And you know, I just cannot visualize a future where Jews begin to worship the G-d of an alien tribe. Or one in which Moslems accept a Cherokee Prophet who asks them to stop it with the 'sharpen your swords' stuff. But I can imagine a future in which the English speaking world replaces Christianity with some other irrational foreign 'belief' system that is more profitable or efficient. Do I hate Christians? No. I simply find them hilarious. When not deadly.

Note: When celebrating Rogersmas on Novemeber 4th, remember to purchase a lot of kitsch gifts to exchange from a Cherokee outlet store near you. That's Walmart, to you non-Indians. Donations can be made to The Will Rogers Memorial.

It might have something to do with the fact that most of the religions, christianity at top, have caused lot of grief, war, killing in the name of god And everything else what bible teaches. So its better to be atheist and peacefull than kill in the name of god, bush whatever..

This theory is total GARBAGE. Religion gets used as an excuse for wars, but do they cause them? Did america go to war against IRAQ because of religion or oil? Did America go to war in vietnam because of religion or communism, did Germany and Japan go to war because of Religion or Land. Did nepolian go to war because of religion or conquest. etc etc. Only the un educated actually argue that Religion is the cause of all evil. Why don't you look at the underlining motives for war and then argue this case.

My friends father has been an athiest for a while now. It isn't as though he dislikes Christians, he just can't accept there is an all powerful God that would allow such evil to exist on Earth.

Last week he went to hosiptal for a quadriple heart bypass. He nearly died. Last night we went in and visisted him. My mother offered to pray with him before we left. He was very happy at that idea. Go figure, we can't all be that bad

I think the Christians have the same problem the Muslims have.

Neither group speaks out against those more "fanatical" members of their religion. Both groups will bend over backwards to justify any and every crime committed by a member of their own group while at the same time vilifying even the good people in any OTHER group. Not everyone does this of course I have met Christians that were generous loving nonjudgmental people and I have met Muslims that are deeply ashamed of the way their religion has been hi-jacked by extremists but both are either not vocal enough or ignored by the media looking for "hate" groups.

There is an old sikh saying that goes, "If you can't see god in everything than you can't see god in anything."

I have no problems with Jesus, its the christians that give me the red arse. The sheer gloomy martyrdom they wail about as they go about denying other people the right to live as they please is what annoys me.

I live in a tiny third world country called Arkansas where even the governor is a preacher of the oppressive Baptist Taliban. If I want a beer on a sunday I have to drive across the state line. If I want to buy a lottery ticket or go to a casino I have to do the same. Its a darn good thing I live just this side of the state line or i'd have to move. I pity the peopl who live further in state.

Hate is a poison to the soul of the person that is doing the hating, therefore I hate no one or no thing. I don't even like saying the word. In reply to the title of this thread I do not hate christians, I just don't like them. There is a big differance.

For the record I was raised as a christian. Both my parents were ordained ministers and I actually was raised INSIDE the church. We lived in the building.

My totally despising the christian community comes from long years of close contact with them and later years of having to live under their rule.

But to answer the thread, I do not hate them.

Love and light to each of you,

Wupy

non believers only bash people of god or christians because they see evidence of a divine being existing and wont allow it to register in their minds. they merely love to sin or just plainly dont want to be united in such a way. sad actually. another reason is they may believe/enjoy participating in many immorral things which go against the bibles scripture. if they wish to live a short life of sin and an eternity in hell thats fine with me, while the believers live a life preaching the lords warmath and earn a place in heaven on gods throne..

What a bunch of pahooie! I can't even believe that you believe that bs! I am not a "sinning" (using your faiths word) type of person and I am not a Christian....it amazes me that many Christians think that because your pagan...you sin al the time!
The thing is...most of the Christians "I" know, drink, party, have sex while not married, go to strip clubs, view pornography, smoke...the list could go on and on and on...

Oh yeah! But then their forgiven!

I think this is why many christians are supposedly "hated" or "attacked". They tell others they have to believe in their god and no other or else they spend an eternity of suffering.

I don't have other religious beliefs in spite Christians. I choose a religion that "feels" right for me and doesn't conflict with my personal beliefs.

I dont think its christians themselves folk hate, so much as their staunch unconceeding dogma! So many dont practice what they preach, thats what folk hate! Me included!

Live and let live! You preachy churchys wont be standing behind me when I face my maker !

Exactly! I know that many, many Christians are not this way...I just always tend to run into the other kind, though I have met a couple on this board that very tolerate and non judgmental...most however, tell me how I will suffer and how wrong I am and that there is only one god...and sit and judge me, while they are sinning up a storm themselves....it really burns my broomsticks! If you want people to not dislike you, stop telling others how to live and what they should believe in! Sheeeeesh...that's pretty simple!

Let me move the quotes over if I may in your post...

...the hate spewed by some "Christians" if of a different faith, especially mine.

That looks better. What do you think? Christians aren't supposed to hate. They're going against doctrine if they do.

I believe dearly in the creator of all things (that would be God to you) I just don't believe any one belief system has cornered the market on him/her.

As for the concept of sin, sorry, I don't buy it. I've never sinned against god, not even by being born. Life is a wonderful gift and to see it as anything less is to spit in the face of the one that granted it to you.

Sad actually, (those were your words) but I can't help but have the exact same feeling for you.

Free the chains from your mind and the chains on your soul will be gone.

Don't make me start a thread on spiritual anarchy. I've only been here a few days and i don't want to be banished that quick.

Love and light to each of you,

Wupy

Keep us posted please! From my family, I know a quad is not as easy as it sounds despite people's confidence these days. Have you given him some 'reading material'? I'll send out a prayer too since he's for it. Anyone with me?
