I just worked on a thread with lots of sources and made a mistake, closing the tab after I tried to upload a picture.
Now I can only bring up the page with my picture-uploads again, but the whole thread with it's wall of text is gone.

Any chance to get it back? And what happens to all my answers I didn't finish btw, are they gone as well?

Shhh... *rageclicking*

Arrrgggghhhhh

you might have a way to get it back if you use software to explore the ram associated to your web browser, but the more you do stuff on the computer, the more there is a chance that it goes away and is erased. I used that in the past and it worked.

Having lost a number of elaborate posts, I now do more than a one or two line reply in notepad, then cut-n-paste it.

Yeah, that's a good advice as well! I think I might have to change my posting-habits then.

Cheers!

you may be able to recover this from your history in your browser. However, for future reference, use your word pad or word perfect program to create your OP's and then save them there first. Then you can cut and paste.

I highly suggest NotePad+

Simple to use and fantastic for the format we have.

Sorry about your thread, its happened to all of us at some point.

Nope, it just takes me back to my picture-uploads.
The notepad then, thanks anyway.

Cheers!

Many thanks! Didn't work completely, but I was able to catch some other recently closed tabs.

Also, if you are using Google Chrome, you can keep hitting CTRL + Shift + T at the same time to open closed browser tabs. Not sure if it holds onto things you've typed, but I don't see why not.

Yes, for this to work well, when it happens, you have to stop doing any other thing and look at the ram before it's erased and replaced with some other data.

That must really suck. It's happened to me. Talk about being mad. I think you're screwed. Sorry to tell you that.

Do you use Firefox? If so, there is an add-on named Textarea Cache that remembers everything you type into text fields. It's saved me a few times.

You really should compose separately in a word program...save it. Cut and paste it into ATS when you have it just right...we have all lost a lot of work on threads and replies that way.

Compose off site...then cut and paste it into here! You never want to lose it in a crash of stall or an "oops!".

You just learned that!

I have a huge wall of text I wish to get out there but first i have make twenty posts. It is quite important as it pertains to an experience many could go through for more radical reasons than my own.

I'd recommend making posts of substance instead of one-liners intended to do nothing but up your post count.
