Finishing the investigation first would be productive.

At which point prosecution comes.. why wait to establish the tribunal? The tribunal can't commence until the investigation is done. This clears the way so it doesn't get pushed another few months.

I would say for the same reason you don't elect a jury before you have a suspect. Let the investigation complete, then move forward with international hearings.

That just sounds to me Russia wants to stop it because they know the results of the report. It's obvious Russia has gone into covering their guilt. The recent release of information from the BUK manufacturer telling you it was a Buk is a huge clue. The information they released could have been done weeks after MH17 went down. Instead they allowed the fake sattelite information. The plane theory saying it was a air to air missle. All the while they could easily show that wasn't true.

But Russia is smart here they have the company come out with this and then here's were it gets funny. They offer to shoot down a plane to show it was done not from where evidence says but another citype under sepratists control. Why would they do this simple they can make the claim it was a Buk the sepratists captured instead of the one that was tracked from Russia. Russia is blaming the sepratists for a plane they shot down now that's funny.

If Russia thinks they will stop a UN tribunal they are crazy you have Malaysia Australia Netherlands and ukraine calling for it. I seriously doubt Russia can stop this one. And if Russia is found guilty this will lead to war crimes tribunal over eastern Ukraine. That's bad for Russia no matter how you play it.

The only reason this investigation is dragging forever is how to present material to make Ukraine look less guilty or produce a report that would be too inconclusive to who is guilty of this war crime. If they had any proof Russia did it , it would have been long ago presented.

You've never bothered to follow aircraft crashes have you. The National Air Cargo 747 that crashed in Afghanistan in 2013, despite being caught on video still doesn't have the final report written. Despite being obvious what the cause was from the first day. These investigations take time and have to rule everything out.

To make Ukraine look less guilty you say...what exactly is it that makes them look guilty in the first place?

Haven't followed this much have you, because how do you explain the fact that the plane was shot down well into separatists held territory, so how did Ukraine get a BUK into that area without being seen, stopped and detained?

Also how is it they could get this BUK out of that area without being confronted...seems many who blame Ukraine for this haven't been able to answer these simple questions, can you?

Unlike what proof RUssia has presented( which is laughable ) as proof...investigators make sure they have all their T's crossed and all their I's dotted before showing their evidence. Something RUssia hasn't figured out how to do.

If any of Russia's evidence was valid, they'd be screaming for a war crime trial in the Hague. They know for a fact the separatists did it and are trying to cover up their own role in the fiasco. If they thought they could exploit civilian deaths for their own propaganda, they would be falling all over themselves to do it.

They have tried already with what they presented as so called evidence that we all saw through as soon as it was presented.

They have their backs against the wall and are going to do what they can to keep the truth from actually coming out.

But in the end when it shows the Russian involvement they will deny...deny...deny...their involvement.

It is pretty evident that the Russian military shot down MH17 using a Buk. This has been confirmed in an independent investigation already. The Buk itself appears to have also been identified and satellite imagery shows that Russia's accusation that Ukraine shot the passenger plane down is completely baseless. Russia has orchestrated a massive disinformation campaign which includes photoshopping images and continually using Twitter trolls to spread their lies. The Dutch and Malaysian authorities are aware of evidence which clearly indicates that MH17 was shot down by the Russian military.

Here's an interesting article it appears they have moved on to criminal investigations. And they are collecting cell phone tower Information. I think the article is right they are trying to verify the cell phone conversations where separatists admitted they shot down the plane.

Interesting...

I wonder why they did this if they weren't involved.

They have deliberately flooded conspiracy sites with random disinformation so that people will continue to question the results of the investigation. What about the two fighter planes? What about the radar? What about the course change? What about the satellite photographs? What about the eyewitness testimony? What about the Spanish air controller who overheard two pilots discussing the shoot down on the noisy runway? Conspiracy theorists will never admit to themselves that they have been played.

The radar evidence Russia posted will be their undoing. Kind of difficult to blame that stupidity on Ukraine or the rebels when Russia said it was their own.

Ever thought of that does show at minimum they were covering up. But in a UN tribunal could also be used to prove guilt. Since it can be easily disproved and they took the time to hold a press conference with a general.. Though I guess they could pin it on him saying he made it up and they didn't verify it.

Sure but in a court room setting the moment a witness has their credability and honesty imprached anything else out of their mouth is also suspect.

Unreluable witness lying under oath.

Good luck with that. It only works in russian courts where the outcome is determined before it starts.

So the report on MH17 is out today , and just as I predicted on my earlier post the report will be inconclusive as to who shot down the plane. We all know if it was the Russians there would be a massive hysteria on the news about the how Putin murdered all those people. I also said if Ukraine did it , the report will come out as inconclusive. No surprise whatsoever.

They said from the start that the prosecutor's report would determine who and the accident report how.

This investigation team has no legal authority to assign blame. Their job is to merely identify the how not the who. A separate criminal investigation is also working on a report which is expected to be released in a few months time.
