An extremely rare instance has occurred. I used the ATS search engine and the particular subject I searched for doesn't seem to have its own thread yet.

I'm talking about the tv show 'Drugs Inc'. Have people being watching it?

It's actually a really good tv show on national geo. Though, the narrators tend to be incredibly ignorant when it comes to drugs in general. lol, there's an episode (in season 2, I think) where they showed coppers carrying out a raid on some poor cannabis grower and one of these cops refers to 'kush' weed. This ignorant goose claims kush weed is ten times stronger than other strains. In other word's, his claiming the strain 'kush' is over 80% THC.

Like seriously..... is complete stupidity actually a compulsory requirement to joining the police force these days?

Though, other than a few very ignorant claims, it's actually a really good show. Illegal drugs are an issue that no one ever wants to openly address. But its an extremely significant issue within our society and the governments 'war on drugs' has had a huge negative impact on society as a whole.

Much respect to national geographic, for actually allowing this issue to be discussed in an open forum.

We need to legalize cannabis & hallucinogens, then make those addictive substances available on prescription. It would save society billions and then allow the police & courts to concentrate on actual crime.

Anyway........ Drugs Inc, check it out. You might actually learn something and change your ignorant perspective..... if your one of those who thinks law & order is an appropriate way to deal with drug abuse.

I concur as a user of many illegal drugs over the years. Unfortunately the worst ones are legal and I'm addicted to both of them....

I agree and no one should have control over your body other than yourself.

If you want to drink 10 litres of methylated spirits and sniff hydrocarbons, that's still your choice, and I nor nobody else should tell another how to live their lives. Advice - yes, but forced control, get out of here.

I find it funny that in a world that excepts alcoholism, tobacco addiction, even ruining the only planet we live on by pillaging our resources, and wasting trillions of tax payer dollars on killing the innocent in foreign wars, it is considered "taboo" even more so illegal to choose to use mind altering substances.

Talk about Hypocrisy in a so called modern world. So much for freedom.

Well said.
It's a matter of time really, this is getting ridiculous.
Multimillonaire bureaucrats running our lives telling us what to do, f* them.

Drugs Inc. is one of the shows we watch round these parts. It was a thrilling night when the S.O. and I saw a bust occur about ten minutes away from here in front of an RV dealership with which we were familiar. Almost as good as the time my dad was on COPS.

In a similar bent, Lockup on MSNBC (shudder) is hot dish.

Crimey-wimey.

Yeah right on!!

In some countries you face the firing squad for something so small as Personal cannabis use , or risk whipping because you have been enjoying a beer on the wrong side of the rope.

Oh, no doubt! Damn, I got a laugh from that.

I thought all Americans ended up on cops at one point or another, lol. Like season 2 episode 12 of 'my name is Earl'. Don't you guys all proudly crowd around the tele at the local pub, to see yourselves on the latest episode of 'cops'?

Well time for the state to park its nose elsewhere - except in the UK busting people growing cannabis is big business for the police who get to raid their homes, grab their goods and assets from which they make money.

The government passed the Proceeds of crime act as its the easiest way for it to fine people huge sums of money to boost the legal aid bill and the cost of running our courts. Currently once convicted, sometimes on the slimiest of evidence for some, whatever sum the police/court dream up can be extracted from a grower's assets without justifying the figures a court concocts. Funny how they rarely ever go for people without a property and assets though - but that's british justice for ya.

Also there are two other adversaries obviously the pharmaceutical companies and the second is the church which insists no one can access god except through them so anyone using illegal drugs for a spiritual hit has to be frozen out otherwise the priesthood is redundant.

All three above are heavy lobbyists with huge vested interest, not to mention the government itself with its cuts.

What also gets me are the ignorant 'armchair' politicians who know nothing about drugs because they are either too scared to try them or have no interest except in sitting g in judgement on those who do. These are the people who help ensure that those above enjoy their say over the rest of us. It tickles me pink that so many police, barristers etc, doctors and specialists working in the drug area say they are so ignorant as to using drugs - a drug/coc aine test on them would be very interesting.

I will watch Drugs Inc if I see it on, thanks.

We just likes to see ourselves on the tele-vision.

You should watch the movie Run, Ronnie, Run if you haven't already. It's... um, god. I don't even know where to start, but it's definitely related.

The whole series can be overwhelming at times, witnessing what some of them hardcore drug addicts will do to there bodies just to get a fix.

But, the most sickening thing to witness, is the police who are busting them. The police are destroying lives on a daily basis and forcing these desperate people to ingest impure poison into there bodies. The police must be aware of the devastation and misery there unleashing onto society, but they do it anyway. Just so they can collect there weekly pay check.

Enough is enough! We need to legalize these substances, the 'war on drugs' has done nothing but create misery on an unimaginable scale. This is a medical issue, not a criminal justice issue. These people need to be treated medically, not arrested!

Obviously, cannabis needs to be 'fully' legalized. How do the police even sleep at night, when they spend there days house invading people who dare to grow something that grows in the dirt?

I have seen many episodes of Drugs Inc. Its a pretty amazing documentary into the lives of addicts, drug dealers, drugs, the manufacturing and distribution networks that go along with the drug trade. I like the show, just because its raw, and usually unedited showing what really goes down behind the shadowy world of Drugs. Watch out for that drug in Eastern europe called Crocadillee makes users skin turn like a reptiles all scaley, users inject the drug, and it is extremely addictive, and very digusting.

I've watched tons of that show. I really like it too. I appreciate that they go to great lengths not to incriminate any of the drug use and selling activity depicted on the show.

As for not knowing the slang or science about the drugs, I can forgive that. Not everyone is a drug chemist or a user. Clearly the show is targeted towards people who aren't as clued into how the drug trade works. There are times when they talk about various terminology or how the trade works that are incorrect as well (not going to say why I know these things). But like I said, I can forgive them for that. It's usually just small details that they get wrong.

By the way, the makers of this show have expanded. There is now a show that talks about ALL manner of illicit black markets, not just drugs. I can't remember the name of it though, because I've only seen it once or twice.

Mind altering substances are illegal because the government wants its masses in a state of despair. Despair means helplessness, and helplessness means submission.

Guess that's why alcohol is legal. Because it's a depressant.

Yes, it's the Police that are destroying the lives of the people on that show and not the drug user that robs someone or sells their body so they can go inject Heroin.

Oh come on I know that coc aine dealer, he is a nice guy and it's just the mean popo ruining his day.

The cartels, just a bunch of misunderstood business men getting picked on by the cops.

The street dealer bringing death in dime and nickle bags, let him go.

The drug user they showed who lost his family, career, house and friends because he was stealing from all of those to get his fix..the police forces him to do it.

Personal accountability , who needs it..

Yeah, and busting that drug user and stealing his drugs, then putting him in jail. Just does wonders in helping him to repair his life, right?

Also, busting a MDMA dealer and forcing the users to buy filthy dangerous substitutes instead, just does so much good for general public health, right?

Get a clue mate. The police do far more damage to society than any money hungry drug dealer could ever do.

Oh, I do live in "the real world", don't worry your naive mind about that.

I've known plenty of people who have overdosed on opiates, because they have no way of knowing the potency of what there getting. I've also known kids who have overdosed at raves, from ingesting everything they had, in an attempt to prevent the police sniffer dogs from busting them and destroying there lives!

I've personally been brutally house invaded and treated like fricken Tony Soprano, because of a harmless natural plant that grows in the dirt!

You guys are a danger & stain on the very fabric of society.

Best thing you could do, is oppose the war on drugs and gain your very integrity back.
