Russian astronomer discovers new asteroid potentially dangerous for humans

theunhivedmind.com...

ST. PETERSBURG, June 18 /TASS/. A Russian astronomer has discovered a new asteroid which can potentially collide with Earth IN FUTURE. Astronomer Leonid Yelenin, a research associate at the M.V. Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics, told TASS on Thursday that the asteroid was registered as 2015 LK24 by the Minor Planet Centre, which registers such celestial objects. “The asteroid’s size is about 160 metres. It will approach to Earth on June 26 at a safe distance of 4.7 million kilometers,” Yelenin went on to say. “It will be hard to distinguish the asteroid with the naked eye when it is maximum close to Earth because its radiance will reach only 17th magnitude of a star,” the astronomer stressed.

Well, no danger now but can be in the future ......

It's not so much the ones we know about, the real danger comes from the 1000's we have absolutely zero idea about.

Yay, another ExtinctionLevelEvent people can panic about!

Congratulations to Leonid, it's his first "potentially dangerous asteroid". Worth keeping an eye on as more observations come in and its trajectory gets more refined.

It is not his First finding and according to one ATS conspiracy thread this man Leonid Yelenin doesn't exist at all.

Well, this was previously one of the 1000s we had absolutely zero idea about -- but we know about it now. Hopefully we will be able to identify many many more of those 1000's we currently have absolutely zero idea about.

I suppose even if we identify 99% of the Earth-crossing objects out there, there could still always be the ONE we don't know about that may already be on a course to collide with Earth between now and 10,000 years from now.

Read what he said again.

His first POTENTIALLY hazardous asteroid.

Comet Elenin was never a threat.

Yep...i'd say that is a certainty.

I hope we can be ready as a species to effectively deal with rogue surprises when the time arrives, tomorrow or in 10,000 years time.

I don't hold out a lot of hope of that becoming a reality though, since our societies are focused on avarice and profit drives economies.

Knowing our M.O., we most certainly won't be ready. Pessimistic a view as it is, 4 or 5 millennia after the big one takes out our current societies, the survivors will be wondering if there were any previously high technology civilisations before theirs....they probably won't invest in Asteroid defences either.

Old thread

I've communicated with him a lot over Facebook, he's very much real.

P.S. it's funny how that thread ends with my comment about how Leonid linked to that very thread on his Facebook profile.
