The Rot has set in.

I have never watched an episode of their show/s.
I never read anything on them, but unwittingly my sense were assailed whilst watching TV, I heard a 3 minute piece about Kim Kardashians letter to self in 10 years.

Sadly this wasn't a resignation letter from her, what a gift that would be, instead in a short video she fake types a letter declaring where she hopes to be in a decade....without caring a stitch for anything or anyone other than herself.

We have been subjected to this family and their inane drivel and narcissistic behavior for over a decade now. They contribute nothing to society, and watching this video you will see what she thinks her contributions over the next ten years should be. She doesn't even mention how she hopes her children will be healthy and happy kids.
Her dreams are about her tan, selfies and her fat butt.

Urgh.

The decay of society.
The Rot has set in.
We lift up mindless tarts to positions of great influence. They are drowning in money, and that astounds me most. The narcism is enabled by society at large , their wealth came from people who actually want to hear what they say or do or wear. I know there are K-dash hate clubs and this is nothing new, it's just this video repulsed me to the point where I thought "My brothers and sisters, It's a lost battle".

The better question is, why do you even care? Until I read this thread I was unaware of whatever vapid crap Kim was up to and I was fine. After closing this thread, I'll quickly forget about it and be fine again.

You know how I maintain my peace of mind? Not worrying about what self-absorbed famous people are doing all the time and measuring that against society's morals.

I'm watching the story about the "KFC deep fried rat" that sourced from Facebook make the rounds on major news outlets.

I think I'm done! I can't handle it anymore!

What Kim Kardashian is up to is irrelevant, she could have selected any number of vapid people who are celebrities for no obvious reason (or even people who are celebrities for a reason) as an example for the purposes of this lamentation.

I'd say she's effectively asking the same question as you ("Why do you even care?") but asking it of everyone.

I don't care. I don't care SO much that I have trouble keeping track of who various famous people even are. Worrying about my own problems is enough work, rather than worrying about what some rich douchebag is doing. Rich douches have always existed and will continue to exist long after I'm gone. I'm not going to lose any sleep over what they are doing.

You know what I also don't care about? Other people caring about her. If people want to waste their lives worrying about idiotic famous people, let them. Kim Kardashian isn't anything new. Tabloid newpapers have been around for close to a century now and there are many people from all the generations in that time span who eat that # up constantly. Yes, it's not productive and it is rather vapid, but so what? Are you 100% productive every minute of the day? I'd wager no since you are posting on ATS right now and not off doing something productive.

Saying that this is an example of the rot in our society is silly. Self-absorbed rich people aren't a new thing in the world, and Kim isn't out and out actually doing anything harmful to anyone. So let her be. It should also be noted that if you ignored her, she'd go away. But here we are talking about her, so now her names stays relevant for THAT much longer and she gets what she wanted. Attention. This is why I just make it a priority to just ignore and not talk about these things. No matter what.

When the majority care about her, that influences society and I for one live in a society, am not wholly disconnected from it.
I'd rather someone up there on that pedestal that affects my life for the better, so I don't see the kids in the local high school or shop assistants (just random examples) or nephews and nieces imitating her.
I'd rather be saturated by someone of value. She does affect society, perhaps not my little home and family, but step past my front gate, the influence is there.

ATS is productive for some of us...You have no idea where I have been productive in my family and community..., I'm not use to you being cranky pants-ed at me. Ease up

See there is your problem. You are worrying about what other people are doing. Someone who follow KK doesn't necessarily mean they make bad decisions in life or are vapid themselves. They just find that stuff engrossing. I find it tedious, but to each their own. Who am I to judge when I could just as easily waste a whole weekend playing video games or watching television?

Life is just a distraction until we die. Nothing about life says that we have to be productive or produce anything for society. Live life and just be happy to be alive. That's what I do. Live and let live.

That wasn't meant to accuse you of being an unproductive member of society. It was done to show that everyone does unproductive things every now and then.

Haha you got me there. Cultural rot used to be something I worried about, but then I sorta became a pseudo-hippy and just stopped caring about those things. Society is a self-created prison anyways.
