I think you would feel that way being that you are not from this country. However, if you are and if this is a common thread in the black community,
well that makes the question Krakatoa has repeatedly asked without a CLEAR answer very on point. I understand the OP's mindset because they do not
understand the white community as the white community doesn't understand theirs well either. The problem with that is they have outdated beliefs and
ideas of the white community that only exist in a very few whites.
Regardless, as a Real Estate Agent in the South (Florida) I can tell you that in the last two subdivisions we built which were in the
$300,000-$500,000 range, the majority of new home owners were black people. So, there are many black people that have got their education, got good
jobs, and moved their way up. One thing I saw in the schools when in them and have heard from my children and others is that when a black kid is doing
well and studying, participating, etc. the other black kids constantly jeer them and say things like, "You just want to be like whitey"! And now we
have the OP making the claim whitey is responsible for holding them back. The schools, housing, and employment are all integrated now and from what I
see the blacks that want to rise above it do.
IMHO, there is a problem with government programs that keep them in poverty. You can see this take place even in animal communities and whites are
just as susceptible to this problem. That is the old problem of giving a wild animal food all the time and they no longer hunt or teach their
offspring to hunt. If you take the food away they will starve.
The US government and liberals generally have given the poor community all sorts of programs, i.e. food, money, housing, phones, education, etc. The
poor's offspring have grown up dependent upon them as their parents were. They have not taught their children life skill, work ethic, money and
financial education, etc. As in the animal community with food, we have a poor community that does not know how to better themselves and move out of
their poverty.
This above and the teaching of the old paradigm to their children has them actually believing that a white male is somehow holding them back. They are
not. As a matter of fact, most white males are excluded from most of these government programs for some reason. I have tried to get help when on the
straight after being shot, and going through 23 major surgeries. If not for family that stepped in to help, I would have been homeless. I will give
the government one plus though for paying most of my medical bills. I didn't even apply. When I woke up in the surgical ICU after two trauma surgeries
they told me the government put me on the medicaid roster and to not worry that they were going to take care of me. Not that I had much in mind but
surviving. But, the poor community still has the dilemma of being so used to and dependent on government programs that they really do not understand
the society or don't feel the NEED to do the hard things to get ahead in this life.
Many poor in the community would just as soon not work and receive the benefits. If you are not hungry, you will not go learn to fish, which go to the
old adage,"Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and they will eat for life." I have an issue with the high schools. They
should teach finance and money skills and make it mandatory to get out of high school. They should also teach basic life skills if the parents do not
have the real world experience to teach to their children. I guess this is where they say the whites have held them back from the old days of slavery.
The elders never learned the life skills to pass down to further generations and they are stuck in an unending loop. That is why these skills should
be taught to high school students and even the poor community in general. The problem is the scum politicians don't want that. They want them
dependent on government programs and so is there any wonder why the poor community constantly vote for bad politicians that just CLAIM they are going
to give the same poor community more programs? If any of you were dependent on government for health care, food, housing, etc. you would want that to
get bigger and give you more if you were ignorant of the bigger picture. That is why austerity is so bad in certain countries. The population of said
countries are so dependent of the social programs they don't have the life experience to imagine being free of them (pun intended).
This whole lack of understanding on the parts of the affected communities have made them strike out at the wrong thing imho. Today, the majority of
whites are not racist and are struggling against the same impediments that everyone else is. However, the black community strikes out saying it is all
white peoples fault. They may have been responsible in the past, but that is not the current day white communities fault or problem. I agree on in
that there needs to be an intelligent program to educate the poor community in life and money skills. Obviously, the ones that have got that education
have moved up in society and have not been told they can't and can't live here or can't join there. As I said above, the majority of new homes I sell
are to minority populations. So, it isn't that they are being held back by the whites. That is an outdated idea that has been continually taught to
younger blacks. Is it any wonder they feel this way when they are being held back by their own memories. Their mind is their prison and persecutor.
So, what do they want whites to do? We are not in their way. Some, and this is only in certain regions like the south, seem to want high paying jobs
and don't have the education or language skills that these CORPORATIONS will accept for those jobs. That is not a racist issue, it is an education
issue. There are black doctors, CEO's, lawyers, etc. If it were a racist society, that wouldn't be the case. I believe one problem is that the blacks
don't do well in school with the peer jeering and problems at home and drop out and by the time they are adults they are stuck as a result of the path
chosen early in age. That is a parenting and educational institution failure, not necessarily the fault of the person themselves. There is a reason
they don't have strong family situations. The females are given more money for each child they have. So having many kids means more income. The second
thing is they don't get married or have the father live at the home because the social welfare system will take it from the father or drop some or all
of the benefits. That is another problem the GOVERNMENT and POLITICIANS have created and perpetuate.
All in all, sorry you feel the way you do OP. Maybe you should really look into all the reasons your community is having the problems they are and
then educate them to help them, or organize them to get change through teaching life skills and money and financial skills. There is a lot of things
available to do so, even free education online at some very prestigious universities. You are directing all this energy and hate toward the whites,
but it is not going to help your communities situation. Most whites today are living paycheck to paycheck and struggling against the same problems
everyone else is. We pay taxes for these programs and benefit not from them. Past Generations, not today.
