If the U.S. want the terrorists to stop why doesnt bush just go on national tv and just say sorry? Itd be a lot cheaper. Save alot of lives.

Sorry to all the rednecks I offended.

Could this work?

1. Just what exactly would the apology be for?

2. Rednecks? To whom are you referring?

Do you really think an apology would stop everything that's going on in Iraq right now?

Oh i don't know... what could the US have done that might be worth apologizing for?

Lets start with its existence "an sich". It owes its mere existence to the genocidal slaughter of the native american people. Let that be point 1.

We could go on but it would get boring quickly.

Why? Just because it's politics! We're not into honest human interactions here... we're into dangerous games motivated by greed and/or fear.

The most effective attitude to be successful into political actions is to be hypocrite (never revealing your plans or true opinions and feelings); to never listen to others; to never, EVER, feel sorry for anything you do and even showing pride for any of your actions (even the worst ones). In fact, it's more important to SHOW pride and confidence than BEING proud and confident. In other words, being a narcissic, remorseless motherf---er.

Read "The Prince' from Machiavelli, and you'll understand how there is no place at all for "common sense" into politics.

These people in Washington will never apologize for anything that they did in the US foreign policy. They have more chances reavealing the truth about UFOs and free energy than doing that.

Well, the terrorist are a little hard headed for apologies... Why apologize if we are going to be doing more of the same in the near future? It will make out credibility go away. Its not good politically or economically.
But hey, if we apologize and still get to keep the oil Im all for it...

You should remember one thing.... People do not really CARE about others or their feelings. They only pretend to when it can help them advance. There are probably very few in any government or ruling authority that genuinely care.

Could we get some answers to Banshee's questions? From the author? Hearing what everyone else has to say is nice and all that, but it's just speculation.

Croat56, can you elaborate on what you meant?

He can't apologise and walk away, because NO ONE would accept it. Those that believe he is right, will not accept it. Those that believe that he is wrong will not accept him getting away with a cheap apology. There are no WMDs. He's caused a whole lot of desrtuction and many deaths for an ideological (democracy) or financial (oil) or personal (man tried to kill my daddy) cause. Let Bin Ladin apologise and all is forgiven.

Apologies are merely words. They don't bring back the dead, and they don't solve anything. The only true apology would be action in bringing the occupation to an end. Which Bush and company obviously don't intend on doing.

Bush say sorry ?????????
Not sure exactly what he would be apologizing for. Sorry for lying about weapons of mass destruction? sorry for feeding the world with bull?

Any how. What do you really think that the insurgents and terrorists would say " oh, thank you George, no problem, apology accepted mate"?

Too late for apologies, the deed is done and he has got live with it to save what little esteem he has got left.

I reckon we are going to be posting the same things about the war in ten years time when we are still there "helping them to run their country"

And could we also get an apology from bin laden and all the other barbarians associated with the radical muslim cause?

Why always so one-sided against the US? Must be jealousy. We are what you can never be (even if you sneak in). We have what you can never have (even if you steal it).

Still, it would be tempting to do the isolationist thing for a little while as some others have suggested. Wonder how long it would take the rest of the world to come begging for everything from new technology to music and movies? Oh, and don't forget all the food we export to the rest of you.

Without the US, the rest of you are just like children in a classroom while the teacher is away. You'd be tearing up the room and each other in no time.

An apology? Should Reagan apologize for the Lebanon bombings that killed how many US soldiers and Marines?
Should Carter apologize for Iranian Hostage situation?
Should Clinton apologize for the acts of terrorism that occurred under his watch?
Bush, apologize? Not in this lifetime.

As mentioned already above....an apology will not stopp acts of terrorism.
Maybe we can get Bush to apologize to Saddam....

Then maybe we can get Saddam to apologize to the world for all his BS antics?
After that, maybe we can get Sadam to apologize for the mistreatment he did to his own "subjects"?

Apologize that will save lives? How hilarious. Wishful thinking at its best.

Just apologize and all the terrorist will just go on their merry way
wow why didnt Palestine and Israel think of that.

And heres a news flash there was terrorism against America before Bush was even in office. Perhaps Clinton should apologize with all the others still living

Sorry for invading your country under false pretenses.

Sorry for killing upwards of 20,000 Iraqi civilians, they were accidents and we're sorry. All life is precious, not just our own.

It's a start.

Better question might by, why would it work?

Why would an apology settle anything? Woudl an apology to the bosnians be worth it for them? Would a bosnian apology to the serbs have been enough to prevent that recent war?

What would you do with the people who have already commited crimes? Not arrest them? Bin ladin too?
