Obvious hate crime here in Philly but the cops and media won' touch it

What I find amusing...

People saying race shouldn't play into the equation are usually people that have never had crimes committed against them due to race. Usually, it's a white person saying that a black person shouldn't get so up in arms over race issues.

It's easy for a white person to sit there and say that, when they haven't been pulled over for "driving while being black".

Look, I'm a white guy -- but I have some very well-educated African American friends. I've gone back and forth with them about these issues, and played devil's advocate a number of times.

The fact of the matter is that racism does exist, hasn't gone away, and we've done nothing but sweep it under the rug to fester since the civil rights movements of the 1960's.

You make an interesting point; racism does indeed exist and no it hasn't gone away and in large part US society has done nothing to sweep it under the rug and keep on the move to try to escape the endless problems associated with the governments response to the civil rights movements of the 1960's.

Problem is, or perhaps I should say, the question is...what exactly could ever be done about the existence of racism? More government solutions? What would those solutions be? More costly and ineffective government programs? I can't mentally model any viable solutions to the problems of racism in the US.

First let me say I don't care what color a persons skin is. As a young child, 8 or 9, I did because my dad told me that whites are better that blacks. When I grew up, I GREW UP. Today I have friends based on the person, not their skin color. I know plenty of blacks and whites that I wouldn't give them the time of day, let alone allow them in my house.

That said I also have to admit I'm getting a little fed up with hearing someone say " They only blame me because I'm black". I hear that even when it's clear that you're being blamed because you did it. After spending 12 years in the Coast Guard I came home to Arizona and became an HVAC tech. I found myself in court a number of times trying to get paid. Many times it was someone claiming that I was taking advantage of them because they don't speak English, and because I didn't explain the problem and cost to them in Spanish the judge found in their favor. I also had a person claim that I over charged them because I was making a 15% profit on the cost of the part that I never told them about. They told the judge that because they're black I treated them like trash. Claiming they heard me on the phone tell someone that I didn't care if the part was new or not it's just for this dumb "N" word. Even though I had a signed agreement for the repairs, and the A/C was working, the judge found in their favor because I didn't have proof that the part I installed was the part from the invoice I provided. He said it only proves that I bought it, not that I installed it in THIS A/C. In contrast I also had white people try to not pay for one reason or another. Each time the judge said "Did you sign the agreement ?" "Yes" "Is the unit working now ?" "Yes" "Then pay the bill." I never lost a single case when the customer was white. I only won 1 case when the customer was Hispanic because he made a mistake and answered a question in English. The judge got him to admit he spoke and understood English just fine. I started carrying a mini tape recorder with me if the person was Hispanic or black. I hated myself for it, but it was the only way I could protect myself and get paid. I'm not alone in this I know a number of techs who've had the same problem. I'm not saying that this is a race issue because I'm not there. What I'm saying is that it seems to me that people only pull the race card when they are in the wrong and have nothing else. Why because it causes public outrage and muddy's the water until people loose sight of how it got started in the first place. If these 4 women are doing these thing, black, white or green, then you have to get proof for the cops to take action. Without evidence it's your word against theirs and won't hold up in court. Like they say, "It's not what you know, it's what you can prove"

Yep. You're exactly right. Except the MSM portrays racism as solely the domain of white Christian males. Until everyone can admit it goes both ways, we won't progress.

Let's address all of your points

1. In the mid 80's, I was jumped and but held my own against about 5-6 young black kids. They did not like the fact I went to a school that had a rebel flag with its mascot. Mind you, I am from NY and could care less about the Grand Old South but it did matter to them. To try to beat up a white kid based on hatred of a flag.

2. As a white teen, who also had longer hair into my 20's. i was pulled over ALL the time as a stoner. Tossed my car at least a dozen times over that time period. It was simply profiling but I did not demand the name of the cop or do the stupid # people pull now. Nothing to hide, go ahead, on my way.

3. You know well educated black people? That is the same as a racist saying 'I have black friends'. I know some very uneducated black people who hate what they call 'n-word's. Ask a black person busting their ass to keep their kids out of trouble and pay the bills. They HATE Al Sharpton and this race baiting garbage.

4. Racism has been in all parts of the country for centuries..and not just against blacks. Do you know how hard it was to be Irish in the late 1800's? No, because history only wants to teach what can separate a nation to make elections easier.

Obama won his election on the black vote, and what I find so funny, is he was raised by old cracka grandparents in the suburbs...

Racism starts at home...is embroiled by the community and inflamed by the media. It is a cycle that must be broken. Plain and simple and until that starts, it will never be removed from society.

"CHRISTIAN" doesn't have to do specifically to this case, but I was making a general point. For example, the the MSM calls out any negative comments of Islam as intolerance, but anything said about Christianity is allowed. Draw a cartoon of Mohammad, and if you're killed, you deserve it, you bigot. But show a figure of Christ in a vat of urine, it's art, so keep your mouth shut. Again, this has no relevance to the case at hand, just pointing out the MSM hypocricy.

Unfortunately, for the first time in my life, because of what has been happening over the past few months.

I almost did not go to an event in a predominately black city
because I was afraid of being attacked just for being white.

I did go and chastised myself for being afraid - so you don't need to do it.

But unfortunately, I was relieved when I saw the event was being held in a very very nice area of town.

That is what the terrorizing of the police force into inaction by liberals/Democrats/progressives has done to the populace.

How many others, like me are now thinking twice about going to a predominately black city because we are white and afraid for our body and lives for entering a black city. How very very sad. But probably justified fear according to the mainstream media.

Thank You, that I do agree with as well. I might also add that it is becoming a crime in this country just being male. I can't even take my granddaughter to the park without having someone question my motives. They don't do it to my face but you can see it in their eyes when they watch your every move. NEWS FLASH; Being a white male does NOT make me a wife beating pervert who hates blacks and Hispanics. I don't care what you saw on some LMN movie of the week.

I think a good start would be to stop with the "- American". If you were born here you're American, not African-American or Mexican-American. If you were born in Africa then you're African and so on. In short we should start by stop putting a label on someone based on skin color. Also let me say I don't care what is or is not PC. Stop trying to find some reason to sue someone. Free speech applies to everyone. If you don't like what they said don't listen. It's like anything else, if you don't like porn don't watch it. Just because you don't like something that does not give you the right to attack others. When I was a kid we were taught that whole sticks & stones things. People just need to chill out, stop being so selfish and self centered. Not everything is an attack on you. Remember, every one in the world does something that someone else doesn't like. Should we ban it all ?

I could also say that more blacks are involved in crimes like drugs and guns. NO that is NOT a racist remark. According to a program called DRUGS INC. the Mexican drug cartels target black gang-bangers to sell their product. (Yes I know there are white gang-bangers too.) The point is that the media focuses on these blacks selling drugs and carrying guns killing people. For a lot of people this is the only information they have. So of course ALL blacks sell drugs and so forth. I'm not saying it's right, it's just the way it is. I've said it before and I'll say it again, "The press is the core of the problem" They only report those parts of the story that causes the greatest response. For them the more negative the story the better.

This is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard. How old is that statement ? It sounds like something from the 40's blaming black people for the way they're being treated. It takes more than education, you also need to be treated as equals. After high school I joined the Coast Guard, 12 years later I went back to being an HVAC tech. I learned it from my dad starting at age 8. By the time I was 12 or 13 I had adults trusting me to fix their A/C's even though I was a kid. I don't think a black child, given the same education, would get the same respect. Also I never spent a single day in a collage class and have had plenty of leisure time. I've been inside those $500,000 homes, they're empty. These so called rich people who spent so much money on their education, now spend ALL their time working just to keep up with their bills. While I retired last year at the age of 49. Some of the people I went to high school with are still paying on their student loans. My house is paid for as are my truck and fishing boat. So who got the better deal.


Also most of those people who live in those high priced homes I wouldn't trust them to walk my dog. While other low income family's I would be happy to leave my kids with because I know they're honest.

However the "us and them" mentality doesn't help America, does it?

Maybe when the self styled "oppressed collective" realizes the war they're fighting is in their head, America as a whole will move on as a nation.
