Check out this new Facebook Chrome Extension for tracking your friends whereabouts in Facebook. Quite scary.

I can see this as being a good surveillance tool for a government alphabet agency - especially if you are a Facebook poster of anti-government or other "questionable" content. In fact, to take it to the nth degree, if you were such a poster and the agency linked you to other anti-government websites then it could be used as a very powerful tool to track your movements - they only need to lock-on to you once, then they haave you indefinitely.

Oh yeah - it's good to know where your friends or girlfriend or boyfriend or wife or husband is too - just to make sure they are doing what they say they are doing.

This app is one of the reasons I loathe it, because if that is what you can see, imagine what is possible that you cannot see, that others can thanks to the Terms and Conditions you agreed to, including agreeing with all those "updates".

I don't have a Facebook account - I know the whereabouts of the few friends I do have by other means, namely face to face conversations.

F### Facebook.

It is an app not a Chrome or Facebook product, and it looks like facebook banned it but some default setting has it enabled on mobile and it can't be used on a desktop.

I don't really use facebook anymore but when I did regularly, I always checked the privacy settings. There is similar tech for phones and various other ways governments can track if they want to so that product is not exclusive.

Wow, It was bad enough from the beginning.

I can now only imagine what their new and updated Terms and Conditions could look like :

1. By agreeing to the new terms and conditions you automatically enroll your friends and family into the the new terms.

2. By agreeing to the new terms and conditions you , your family, and friends will be automatically enrolled into the new Family and Friends Patriot Act .

3. By agreeing to the new terms and conditions you will grant us authority to decide what future terms and conditions you will automatically accept.

4. By agreeing to the new terms and conditions ,you acknowledge and accept any and all negative consequences from your actions despite our control of your actions.

let's see....now there is facebook tracking, twitter tracking, smartphone GPS tracking, auto GPS tracking, license plate tracking, computer IP tracking, credit card purchase tracking, debit card purchase tracking, bank withdrawal and deposit tracking, store reward card tracking, redlight runner cameras at intersections, road traffic hot spot cameras. cameras tracking shoppers inside stores, cameras tracking people in casinos, at ATMs, in shopping districts street sidewalks, cameras at sporting events...etc...and let's not forget clandestine watching by people with phone cameras, google glass cameras, 3-letter agency cameras, local police cameras, and drone cameras.

as a business....the ability to use FB to gather data and metadata would be something incredible.

or incredibly evil.

And this is why I do not allow any facebook 'AP' on my phone. I became suspicious of FB years ago after posting something that might be controversial and then getting friend requested by an attractive member of the opposite sex that I had never met. I'm sure the average male would eagerly add such a request.

Facebook never forgets, it is laughable how some seem to forget this. It is also monitored by LE for illegal activity. In fact there is a program where the police will go to a residence of a minor, to inform their parents(and snoop around) if said minor posts about drugs and drinking.
