Well, that's one way to avoid that nagging little problem of having your soldiers turn up dead in a country you're supposedly not invading... make all your soldiers deaths a state secret!

TBH I think this move is to keep his own people ignorant of what's going on in Ukraine, as opposed to the rest of the world.
