There is a new PvP survival shooter rolling out from independent developer Studio Wildcard, and it's looking interesting so far:
It looks right up my alley, despite the slew of poorly made survival games that have eeked out in recent months. Interestingly, it isn't being run
with Unity like similar titles such as Rust or The Forest have utilized but rather Unreal Engine 4.
I'm digging the concept of battling dinos (and other people) for supremacy on the island(s). It's kind of a primal throwback really, promoting the
use of tribal instincts. It is always interesting to see the fight/flight or solo vs group mentality when playing these kinds of games. Their dinosaur
'dossiers' are interesting to look at as well, showcasing artwork as well as some brief notations on dino behaviors:
I am hoping for the best, although with all the early access hyped games lately, I am not gonna hold my breath or dish out cash until reviews start
coming out. It was nice of them to release an actual gameplay trailer, instead of sweet cinematic nothings. It will be launching in early 2016 for PS4
(always nice getting justification for your $400 netflix player), XBOX1, and Steam (available June 2nd for Early Access if you're into that).
It is similar to Turok, though I doubt there will be quite as many scares... unless you go diving into the ocean. I certainly won't be doing so
with Megalodon's swimming about. Maybe a T-Rex will come visit while I'm brewing tea.

I've been watching some twitch streams today of people playing it (mostly Lirik). Seems like there's quite a lot of stuff to do in the game. As with
most of these kinds of games, crafting, finding food/water, etc.... You can make dinosaurs pets now and you can ride them, have them hold a bunch of
inventory for you, and they follow you. You also have to keep them fed to, and they also level up.
Not sure if i'll pick it up myself early on, since I've had my fill of these kinds of games but I may pick it up after awhile.
I'm glad to hear it's living up to the hype so far and is keeping up on updates. Survival games like these do seem to lose their luster quickly. I
find they are best tackled with teams of friends and a lot of time to spare, neither of which I have had the pleasure of enjoying lately.
After reading some of those posts on Steam, it looks like it's a troubled launch....not really surprised. Plenty of "unknown error" messages. Im
guessing they underestimated the amount of people that were hyped for the game.
I would probably wait until things clear up before buying the game.

Don't count on a prerelease being up for a steam sale.. I could be wrong though. ;D
I bought this game a few days ago, right after telling my friend (who showed it to me) that I was sick of "early release" titles.
I regret nothing so far. I've logged over 10hours into it so far (it's the only game I've been playing with my free time) and I haven't even fully
explored the map. I've not even started making a house or tamed my first dinosaur. To extend this games life, I'd suggest not watching streams/looking
up how to do things. It's quite fun figuring things out on ones own..
Negative part:
It's VERY poorly optimized and combat is very choppy. I'm forced to play the game on medium to get a decent FPS and I consider my computer to be
mid-high end.

I do but I have moved from the pvp to local/single player mode.
Great game especially if your pc meets the recommended specs and not the min, I don't think the console version is doing it any justice but if you are
on a console like the ps4 then a great game visually is horizon.
Ah don't blame you. Me and some friends run a dedicated server on Xbox one (should of stated that when I replied to the thread) had enough of official
servers
In all fairness I was quite surprised ATS had a thread for ARK I was trying to visit forums to advertise our server so we can get it populated.
Either way a good game but my God does it make time disappear quickly

Yup me too when the game first came out there were me and my friends playing (8 of us in total) got bored of being alpha.
Given up on official servers now, one of my friends runs his own server from an Xbox so I've now experienced being an admin, which is a pain in the
backside. As soon as you act as an admin everyone playing assumes you are something official you get people moaning and complaining, asking for admins
to do this and that I found I wasn't actually playing the game but baby sitting cry babies. one advantage of being admin you could spawn what you like
including the new tek gear which was fun
The only thing that bothered me on official is you were trying to compete with tribes who seems to play 24/7 and the gather rates are shocking so you
couldn't get yourself set up as you'd go to work or sleep and wake up to find you've been wiped
I tried getting into once it came on the PS4. However, even with a friend the official servers were an extreme grind. Even on unofficial servers it is
very hard to keep a base going because you never know when those servers will be online.
Like the poster above (sort of) said, you are playing with a lot of hardcore players who play the game a lot. The game seemed like a very cool
turok-like minecraft, but ultimately it is a waste of time in my opinion.
The game was probably a lot of fun in the beginning, but then those with no-lives had taken over the game and ruined it for any casual players.
