Hamas forces in the Gaza Strip committed serious human rights abuses including abductions, torture and extra-judicial killings of Palestinian civilians in 2014, a new report says.

It is absolutely appalling that, while Israeli forces were inflicting massive death and destruction upon the people in Gaza, Hamas forces took the opportunity to ruthlessly settle scores, carrying out a series of unlawful killings and other grave abuses,

Instead of upholding justice, the Hamas authorities and leadership have continuously encouraged and facilitated these appalling crimes against powerless individuals.

As well as carrying out unlawful killings, others abducted by Hamas were subjected to torture, including severe beatings with truncheons, gun butts, hoses and wire or held in stress positions. Some were interrogated and tortured or otherwise ill-treated in a disused outpatient’s clinic within the grounds of Gaza City’s main al-Shifa hospital.

Gaza: Palestinians tortured, summarily killed by Hamas forces during 2014 conflict

Keep cheering for the freedom fighters...

Israel bad.

Not to mention what Israel has done would not have been done if Hamas and their terrorist buddies were not continually launching attacks into Israel.

Unless you post about what Israel has done few will care.

Is this really unsurprising? Hamas is just another bunch of thugs who have no legal or moral limits in how they keep in power. Just think, if peace broke out, then Hamas would be irrelevant!

Exactly, neither side really wants peace, and Hamas was clearly never for the people.

From the source, if true, because it has to be investigated:

Amnesty International is calling on the Palestinian authorities, including the Hamas de facto administration in Gaza, to co-operate with independent and impartial international investigative mechanisms, judicial or non-judicial, including the Commission of Inquiry set up by the UN Human Rights Council in July 2014.

They should seek to ensure that the cases documented in this report, among others, are investigated impartially and independently and that, wherever there is sufficient admissible evidence, suspected perpetrators are brought to justice in proceedings that fully respect international fair trial standards and without recourse to the death penalty.

All suspected perpetrators should be brought to Justice. Such as all the murders from Israel that are occupying, thefting, poisoning, sieging and killing Palestinians, since 1948. In total violation of the Human rights Declaration, United Nations Security Council Resolutions and International Law.

By the way, the murders and liars from Israel, don't even let United Nations Commission of Inquiry go in to investigate the War Crimes committed by Israel against Palestinians in the last summer Assault.

Take them to justice, all of them. Release Palestinians, Free Palestine, End the siege Return the land's.

Nobody claims that Israel is saint.
The post is about the fact that Hamas isn't the 'Palestinian protecting freedom fighters' many here think they are.

I can, if you want me to, but will it justify the action of Hamas?

it certainly won't justify Israel murders, occupiers, liars, thefts, unlawful actions and war crimes. And most important, their Genocide ongoing attempt of Palestinians.

This can't be true. Only the evil Israeli's perpetrate this kind of abuse on Palestinians. Peace loving, gentle Hamas would never do such a thing. I bet the Zionists put them up to this. (sarcasm now off)

Thread isn't about Israel

(Kicks soap box over)

I'm new and even I know to stay on topic

Hamas is a terrorist organization that uses the Palestinians and their situation to further their own goals.

Up to and including murdering them if it serves the purpose

Throw the report in the back seat.

... Along with the hundred or so UN resolutions against Israel. I would expect one to be more civilized than the other but I suppose Israel does not give a damn what anyone but her extreme religious beliefs expects .

What's this have to do with Israel

I see Palestinian and Hamas supporters always loved amnesty international , that is until they come out with something that hurts the public view of their " Hamas people's army"

No offense but that proves you're agenda driven and not truth driven

Stand in principles not ideals

from the above:

Let us not forget that it was Israel, which in fact created Hamas. According to Zeev Sternell, historian at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, "Israel thought that it was a smart ploy to push the Islamists against the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO)".

Ahmed Yassin, the spiritual leader of the Islamist movement in Palestine, returning from Cairo in the seventies, established an Islamic charity association. Prime Minister Golda Meir, saw this as a an opportunity to counterbalance the rise of Arafat’s Fatah movement. According to the Israeli weekly Koteret Ra# (October 1987), "The Islamic associations as well as the university had been supported and encouraged by the Israeli military authority" in charge of the (civilian) administration of the West Bank and Gaza. "They [the Islamic associations and the university] were authorized to receive money payments from abroad."
The Islamists set up orphanages and health clinics.....

from the above

Some were interrogated and tortured or otherwise ill-treated in a disused outpatient’s clinic

Hamas didn't exist until Israel invaded Palestine...

Gaza was left under Hamas control by Israel...

Ask yourselves why Israel left Gaza but not West Bank and elsewhere...

Because Hamas do a job for the Israelis...

Israel receive billions to "fight" Hamas...
Hamas steal all Gazan aid...

Both their pockets are lined...
Both their agendas are fulfilled.

When i was reading this story on yahoo it said the Israel army was conducting the investigation however now it says that it amnesty international. I remember reading it thinking well that doesn't make any sense what so ever to have Israel conduct an investigation on incidents after they bombed the people. Seriously this story reeks of controlled media and propaganda even if its true whats the point to bring it up? to show how they are willing to kill people they deemed as traitors? That even though the bombing was a horrible act of civilian killing weakness it somehow isn't as bad as hamas killing a few people they though of as traitors? Are people really this stupid? Like it or not The actions and words of the Israel government shows its true colors as Jewish supremacist.

Hamas didn't exist until Israel invaded Palestine...

What does this even mean?
Israel is a country. Palestine is a geographic region in which Israel is located. How one can invade the other, is beyond me...

Gaza was left under Hamas control by Israel...

Nope. Israel left Gaza under Fatah control. Hamas defeated them in the January 2006 elections. Half a year after the Israeli withdrawal.

Ask yourselves why Israel left Gaza but not West Bank and elsewhere...

Many reasons. One is, it is easier to evacuate 21 settlements than 120.

Because Hamas do a job for the Israelis...
Israel receive billions to "fight" Hamas...
Hamas steal all Gazan aid...
Both their pockets are lined...
Both their agendas are fulfilled.

This is hardly a secret. It's a well known fact that right wing Israeli parties and Palestinian terror groups need each other. Once can't exist without the other.

First, it's not a story. Amnesty international is not a news agency.
Second, I think you missed the point.

Many of these unlawful killings were publicly billed as attacks against people assisting Israel during the July and August 2014 conflict as part of an operation, codenamed “Strangling Necks”, to target “collaborators”. However, in reality, at least 16 of those executed had been in Hamas custody since before the conflict broke out. Many had been awaiting the outcome of their trials when they were taken away from prison and summarily executed.

Hamas forces also abducted, tortured or attacked members and supporters of Fatah, their main rival political organization within Gaza, including former members of the Palestinian Authority security forces.

Hamas used the "traitor" excuse to eliminate their political rivals.
