Sunlight strikes the eyes of all of us.
The moon doesn’t see everyone.
Chain linked fences control the weak.
Train cars ensure these camps aren’t empty.
When a flower grows in hardships.
Its petals remain scarred.
When a child matures in this world.
His mind remains barred.
I fight everyone around me.
Votes go to the crowd.
One day I will be free.
I will disperse this cloud.
When the sun once again sees my skin.
I will stand on a field deep within,
A warrior of peace and dignity.
One that is free from sin.
No one can really relate
To the battle that I can’t escape.
Father tells me to pick my wars
But youth keeps me from reason.
Wave that flag in defiance.
To all those who tell you what to do.
It’s your life to live.
It’s your time to give.
My blood can vanish into the soil
For I shall disappear into thin air.
I lived by my account through turmoil,
Succeeded, in a life that is far from fair.
