I have heard much about the "oil spill" yet! I thought the politicians would but be grabbing their chests and rolling on the ground with this one especially since it was on the Santa Barbara beach.

This would definitely allow Jerry to run against Hilary in 2016. Run Jerry run!

California dont really have a water crisis. IF they decided to stop protecting that stupid "smelt" fish that woudnt effect the environment if it went extinct.

yeah, that's it, you figured it out...millions of acre feet in dam storage, all used to keep the smelt alive...

This is what the poster is referring to, seems like you're unaware:

www.mercurynews.com...

Turning off the pumps that serve the state and federal water projects wasted about 800,000 acre-feet of water in 2013 "based on the science of four buckets of minnows. That is enough water to produce crops on 200,000 acres or 10 million tons of tomatoes; 200 million boxes of lettuce; 20 million tons of grapes."

So, not quite a million acre feet, but close...

This is bad, but does anyone else find it extremely weird that California is having such a drought, with no way to get water??

Welp, there goes a months supply of water for 25,000 people in an already drought stricken state.

As long as it's "good for the environment though" right?

Does anyone else find it ironic that it was 49 million gallons? In SF?

The same transparent formula and model of misdirection, false flag, and terror, they've been using religiously since the turn of the century.

Only this is not a false flag. Here in occupied California it's rained 6 or 7 times in the last two years, our reservoirs are drying up. So do a little research next time before you assume to know it all, not everything is a conspiracy. ~$heopleNation

No not at all, because when it doesn't rain, and there is no snow pack, the reservoirs do not fill up which = No water. ~$heopleNation

Traffic ticket cameras are a sure thing though, and monitoring a boring inflatable dam might be a waste of a camera or two.. Sheesh..

Once a sizable fine can be issued for being near the dam i am sure they will free up a camera or 2 for this purpose

On topic if someone has done this they should present themselves for a lobotomy .....

Well concerning California, As well as the last 2 seasons with almost no rain, the last decade and a half has not exactly set records either other than maybe 1 year. Then you add in the fact that the liberals out here won't allow the State to build anymore reservoirs, yet they keep building track homes, Golf courses and business parks.

On top of that, the borders are wide open and California is trying to feed the World. It's just not logical, I envisioned this coming long ago. While backpacking up in Yosemite National Park I seen lakes that have vanished into dry meadows. Waterfalls that normally run year round were completely dry. It's catastrophic what is happening out here. ~$heopleNation

They should be heavily fined, serve some time, and be forced to do many hours of community service when released. I would even suggest a doctor so they can prescribe some medication that might fix their brain. ~$heopleNation

My money's on a couple of dick teenagers/20-somethings thinking they were being funny, not thinking about the ramifications down the road to others that relied on that water.

A huge stretch of California is natural arid desert, trying to keep it from being what it has always been will always fail. The Mojave won't be a moist tropical paradise any time soon. But for people that do live there, and do try to conserve & live in the environment as it is, the loss of almost 50 million gallons of water is bullchit. People out there still need to adapt to living in a naturally water-strapped region, but vandal buttholes need to remember that you can't piss on everyone else without water first.

who would benefit from this loss

Maybe someone with an insurance policy?
Maybe the Kali treasury?

Good question.

As for the viability of the dam ... I guess it worked pretty well for several decades. Can't really fault the engineers who designed it.

I hope they find the asshats who did this, 'cause I've got a question for them: "Why?"

Nestle is a lot of things, Like their CEO is a bottom feeder, but I don't believe that they would do something like this. They already have plenty of useful idiots that are more than happy to purchase their bottled water. ~$heopleNation

So if a local did it, do they not understand they too will be paying more for less. Idiots.

No, because San Francisco is full of imbeciles, but they enjoy the fresh clear water from Hetch Hetchy Reservoir located up in Yosemite National Park, which is quickly draining. The water here in this story was actually reserved for the City of Fremont Ca, which is across the bay from SF in the East Bay area.

Funny thing about these confused liberals out here in occupied California, is that Governor Ahnold a republican, years ago tried to restore the Hetch Hetchy valley like John Muir wanted, but Diane Feinstein the so-called environmentalist Democratic Senator, fought it tooth and nail. True story, look it up.

Not that it would have helped us now, but why not preserve our National parks, but at the same time build more reservoirs below them? I'll tell you why, because liberalism out here = A mental disorder. ~$heopleNation
