I have been away from ATS for a very long time, but just thought of posting my story to the boards.

I've always been interested in paranormal events and have never had any verifiable evidence of spirits until recently.

This occurred back in May or June of 2014. I had just gotten my certification as an EMT and had started a new job in EMS. The station that the company used to house our operation and fleet of ambulances was just a regular old complex of office buildings. When you first entered the building there was a large office space where all the administration had their desks and the dispatchers had their communication equipment. When you went through the next door there were some more offices and a conference room. Most of the rest of the building was just unused empty space with a few offices for other administrators.

There was a hallway that led to the back of the building. The supply room where we kept most of our medical supplies oxygen tanks etc was in the front of this hallway (it was directly on the other side of the wall from the main office/dispatch area) Further down the hallway was a kitchen and also the bathroom. There were a few more empty offices in the back.

This rather unusual event happened on my third or fourth day I can't recall exactly when. That is relevant because I had just started at the company and was not aware of the resident spirit. Its not exactly part of the new employee orientation. Some of the staff had direct experiences and some of them believed it was all hogwash.

Anyways, I had come in at 0600 for my shift, it was still dark outside. All the lights in the building were off except the main office in the very front. I had gone back the hallway to the kitchen to fill up my water bottles to take out on the road with me. As I was standing in the kitchen, I heard a muffled conversation between two people in one of the offices in the back. I didn't think anything of it because I was tired and assumed management was having an early morning meeting. I finished my business in the kitchen and walked back out to the main office. I was making casual conversation because I really didn't know anyone very well yet. I said "isn't it pretty early for management to be in?" The dispatcher looked at me with a strange look and asked what I meant. I said I heard them in the back hallway in the office it sounded like they were debating something. It was at that point he told me I had heard the "ghost". I thought he might be pulling a prank on me since I was a new guy. Turns out it was only myself, my partner, the dispatcher, and a few other EMT's still out on the road.

Apparently, it was a common occurrence for people to hear it talking to itself with multiple distinct voices. It liked to hang out in that back hallway for some reason. After I found out about this thing I was always creeped out going back to the kitchen and the bathroom. I was afraid something was going to pop out of a dark office at me, but luckily nothing ever did.

Quite frequently I would work over night from 2000 - 0800. When we would be at the station during the night quite often it would knock on the walls. It would go into the supply room on the other side of the main room and bang the hell out of the wall and sometimes make a mess and knock over all the oxygen tanks.

Some employees also reported hearing growling coming from the kitchen. I never heard growling or voices again after the first encounter, but I sure did hear that knocking just about every night. One time I witnessed orbs on the security camera. They would dart into the kitchen and back out really fast. I have a hard time believing they were dust particles because they were organized and would dart as a group into the kitchen, back out, then back in again. Dust particles typically don't sharply change their course of travel at odd angles.

I just wanted to write that down and share it. Maybe somebody will find it interesting. I certainly do because I was always on the fence before about the existence of spirits, but I'm pretty damn convinced now.

There was one other occurrence that was very interesting. I can't vouch for its validity because I wasn't there to witness it, but about three or four other employees were there and all attest to the same story.

There was one particular EMT who was pretty young. I believe he was 19 at the time. Apparently, he was one of the non believers and decided to try a little experiment. One night while on duty he went back into the conference room adjacent to the back hallway. He attempted to provoke the spirit by yelling and screaming at it "I don't believe in you", "make something move", "slam the doors" that sort of thing. He got its attention alright and it scratched him and left three marks on his forearm about three to four inches long.

Again, I can't vouch because I wasn't there, but multiple people will tell the same story exactly the same way.

One of the employees wanted to do some EVP's but some of the management were scared that he would stir up more trouble and had forbidden it.

Considering the location of the events, I would be adverse to suggest having someone come in to conduct an investigation with some observational equipment. It would probably be rather difficult to accomplish with all the background noise and general mayhem. That is also something that is curious, with all the regular activity in the building, I'm surprised people would even notice this kind of thing or that a residual haunting would even take place.

Sounds to me like one of those 'work tales.' My girlfriend works as a janitor in a nearby school and recently had an event where she kept smelling smoke. One of the coworkers mentioned it was the anniversary of the death of a local firefighter. Eerie, eh?

There really isn't any explanation. No anniversary, no known deaths, nothing. The buildings are rather new. It just doesn't make any sense as to why something would have taken up residence there.

The only reason I heard those voices was because the kitchen was in the back of the building and it is generally quiet back there because all the hubbub is up in the main part of the office. The kitchen and bathroom in that hallway are somewhat isolated from the rest of the building.

At night when most of the events would happen there weren't many people in the building because there was only 1 dispatcher and 2 night crews (each crew is a 2 man). When I sat in as a night dispatcher most of the night I sat in the office by myself because the crews were on the road. There wasn't much noise pollution so all the knocking sounds were rather obvious.

Which is why I'd be skeptical. Although an EMS building probably isn't the most peaceful place to be, with all the stress in the air. Perhaps something is feeding on that consistent anxious energy and causing a ruckus. I've found in these situations if it's not something blatantly obvious (can't be explained by any other means) then it's probably not worth getting worked up over. Everything you've mentioned could be explained, with perhaps the exception of the orbs, although it's hard to tell when you're looking through a digital eye.

I don't mean to discount your experiences, just offering some sensibility. It sounds like you were psyching yourself out on some nights, which could easily lend some credence to random events being paranormal, especially if you were isolated from others at the time. Of course, it's easy for someone to say you were just being paranoid if they weren't there with you, and anxiety isn't without it's causality. Perhaps there really is something there leeching off the energy and enveloping others in negativity.
