Thats a tall order and not something that really can be sort of passed on very easily, some parts are very tough maths that flys well above my head and some are very basic such as calculating CRC's to provide a very basic check of data integrity thats easy to spoof but it depends on whats required

and sometimes the most simple things are the best, disconnect the computer with what you don't want anyone to access and stick it in a room with a few hungry alsatians and a few dozen guys with machine guns outside and your data is pretty much secure from anything other than a seal/sas etc team

Ah. I was trying to avoid saying this but I want to be the guy people have to hide from

I think that information should be ours, not theirs.

You never can truely hide if they want to find you, people make mistakes even the guys who busted sony open got caught due to a simple mistake of not using a proxy ONCE which allowed them to track down the guy and get him to sing

and believe me hacking isn't all this hollywood etc thing where you align 2 firewalls and suddenly you have access to the NSA's super top secret mainframe and can download all their juciest secrets in 5 seconds to a memory stick and then go on the run being chased while firing big guns at black choppers etc..It's pretty boring as you're looking for that elusive way of getting past lord knows how much security and sifting through memory dumps etc isn't the thing that'll get you world wide recognition and a lady in every embassy and theres always the chance that by the time you have found a way past something so have several other people and just as you are about to claim glory it gets patched the day before

Generally i'd say a MSC or PHD in maths would be a good start while studying software engineering so you understand not just what happens but why it happens

Your avatar pic is so hot, not sure it would be my choice, yes you are so right about disconnecting whatever is important to you, otherwise it will be hacked or tracked or noticed.

You gotta have 2 PCs, one ultra paranoid and secure, and other one connected.
