A third possibility is that there was a lack of coordination here between this homespun ISIS group and ISIS HQ and they jumped the gun before U.S. embedded ISIS fighters were prepared to make a planned larger strike.

Isis learned a valuable lesson about soft targets. It's not like Paris, as shown in Texas and the rest of the United States . We shoot back

Yes we do, we are one of the most armed nation in the world, still it seems that more information is coming out on how ISIS had involvement in this pitiful terrorist attempt, obviously they use the social media to call brothers in the US to act.
US does have a growing population of Islamic foreigners and they are from different groups and nations, is not only the wannabe American born and converted.
So I wonder how the government keeps track of the middle eastern men to see who could have links to ISIS.
Then like somebody mention earlier we got the open border, that means if somebody wants to come incognito they could.

I'm fairly certain the French will do something besides parking a car on the corner to engage them again. As for the police being at the event, I looked up the contract for rental of that venue. It's stated implicitly that for any event. Five security officers were to be provided at least one with supervisory experience. It was also left up to the venue to determine whether more security was needed.
When I linked it I also pointed out that ironically it was a gun free zone.
