Excellent film, one of my all time favs. I always watch it when it's on TV.
I don't think either of them was infected, maybe the dog.
Yes Carpenter made some great films, he also did the music in some of them.
I enjoyed The Thing 2011 too.

I didn't see the 2011 version yet. I intend to once I find it.

I have to watch Escape From New York. I've heard of it but never watched it. I might see if I can watch Captain Ron, too.

Oh that's a fun movie night. Get a group of friends, some beer (or alcohol of choice) and watch Escape from New York and Escape from LA back to back.

This movie was made where I used to live. (Stewart B.C)
I saw many of the actors and the town got to see it before its release.

Interestingly enough it pretty much bombed and got terrible reviews. We could never understand why.
Now it's a cult classic with a high rating.

s@f I've seen it probably 67 times.

I ain't goin with Windows. I aint goin with him...

That sounds like a good plan. I might post them, too, so others can do the same.

I would have loved to see that. I like seeing what goes into making movies.
There are a lot of movie that are like that. It boggles the mind how they bombed.

Heard he was hurt too. Maybe that flame thrower aimed directly at him toasted his tonsils?!

While at a friend's house the other night, we heard a neighborhood dog let loose with a loud combination howl and growl. I was like "What the hell?"

My friend said "I don't know what's out there, but it's weird and pissed off."
It took me a minute to remember that line from the movie.

That's great. What would have been funnier is if you'd been watching the movie at the time and they said it on the movie.

Well, poop. They don't have it unless you want to pay. I decided on Aliens for the first one. Oh, well. Still a good movie.

Again another immense favorite of mine. If you post about Escape from New York, I'm going to have Kurt Russell trifecta.
Saw this when I was 11 or 12 and it was amazing! Had no clue it was a remake until later but this version is indelible in my memory as some of the scariest crap I've ever seen. It's one of the inspirations for imagery when I read anything Lovecraft.

Such a great movie.

It's on youtube but you have to pay to watch it. Otherwise, I'd post it.

They released a remake few years ago but it falls much short of this 82 version which remakes but improves on the theme of the original movie. Sci fi horror doesn't get much better than this. I watched John Carpenters Vampires on you tube, its also worth a watch.

Many thanks for posting this (didn't think it was available on youtube).

Classic sci-fi horror, should be in everyone's All Time Greats collection.

Another of my faves from that period, The Dead Zone (Christopher Walken).

It has that irresistible combination of creepy, otherworldliness and pathos.

You don't know if you should feel creeped-out or cry.
