Source: New York's Statue of Liberty evacuated after bomb threat

New York (CNN)New York's iconic Statue of Liberty and Liberty Island are being evacuated after reports of a suspicious package inside a locker, according to a senior law enforcement official and the National Park Service.

The evacuation followed a phoned bomb threat, the official said.

Images posted on social media showed crowds walking on ramps to awaiting ferries.

This is breaking right now, so as I find more news I will post it, but as I type this it is being announced that the statue of liberty is being cleared out, a suspicious package was found in a locker, and one of the bomb sniffing dogs gave it a positive hit.

Wish I had news sources, but so far, it just went across on CNN.

Arnt these animals trained to an excepctionally high standard, at least enough to know the difference between Semtex, C4 and pastrami on rye.

I'm not sure how they train them on explosives.

Dogs are pretty good at finding what they are looking for though.

The only problem I have with the false flag idea is that the media is remaining kind of quiet about it, and if it was a false flag, it would be all over TV by now.

It would of been the biggest story of the week within minutes.

Here is from CBS news, the link has some photos.

The NYPD bomb squad is at the scene and are evaluating the package that was left unattended.

Right now there is no indication this is an explosive device,
sources told CBS New York. Officials will X-ray the package as a precaution

Only way it could be a false flag is if they did find explosive material and it actually goes off. Plots being stopped aren't big enough. Would be interesting to see what France has to say if anything does go down.

I went back and edited my post (#2) to add
a reference to false flag just so I could 1st.
I know, it was an A$$hole move... but hey.

The only reason the rest of the world don't want anything to blow up in America, is because we end up paying the price for it. If it wasn't for that, then probably people would say "slap it into ya" you "reap what you sow".

I think it is long overdue for countries at war, to see it on their own doorsteps, to see the realities and consequences of their actions.

Perhaps the people over there would get off their fat butts and actually DO SOMETHING then, mostly it would cause more "ra ra we're the best in the world" rants.

If it does turn out to be a bomb, it could of been a double whammy as it would hit the US and France in one shot....

It always was an obvious target. It's odd, but I suspect that the media are hoping something very nasty happens, as whoever hold the rights to that live camera, are going to make a lot of money if the statue goes up in smoke.

I'm waiting for them to give an all clear.

I wonder if the news media decided to keep it kind of quiet so they don't cause a bunch of copy cat threats.
I've been sitting here wondering about "Breaking News" and they seemed to handle this a little differently than most other stories that are "Breaking News".

Either that or they already know it is nothing and knew early on.
