I don't like the patriot act and I don't like this. I hope the battle ends with Liberty for American citizens.

“I personally would like to see a permanent reauthorization … so we don’t continue to have these debates and take up the time and resources and energy at agencies like the FBI and NSA every few years,” Cotton said. “But I think a five-and-a-half year authorization is appropriate.”

If they're so worried about taking up the resources of the NSA, why don't they look at the fact that the NSA is collecting SO MUCH data on all of us -spying on law-abiding citizens who are doing nothing wrong.. how about not taking up resources doing stupid crap like that Mr. Cotton. Idiot.

That guy should be arrested for treason

Or maybe we just give the legal system a miss and burn him at the stake

It will always be around in some shape or form. There has to be an incredible infrastructure of systems and processes built around the provisions provided by the patriot act. I don't think these things will be dismantled any time soon. It may be under a different name one day, but the essence of what the patriot act installed in our intelligence agencies is now a cornerstone. We've turned a corner that we can't go back around unless something drastic happens.

Arrested? This dude needs to be composted. I listened to him talk for about 4 minutes once. He brings nothing to the table. Just another whacko fear monger.

Best thing he could have ever done for this country is die "defending" it. Too late for that though.

If you give up liberty for security you will have neither.........The patriot act should be illegal under the constitution. They have built a framework outside of the law and this is one piece of the larger anti liberty puzzle. Executive orders are another unconstitutional mess.

Thankfully 90% of the people have no idea what the patriot act actually is.......Maybe they should start a pro-freedom game app or something........This story like the million other stories in the last 5 years will come and go very few will even know what happened.

Probably true.

Part of me wants to think his kind are a dying breed and we'll see more of a liberty movement from conservatives...he, Graham and McCain and types like them like to keep that from happening.

I like the idea of a "LIBER8" APP - lets do it!

He also sent a letter to our government insisting on the fact that they shouldn't trust US president as he holds no power

Talking about a mentally challenged person , an ISIS leader was killed today lol

No, he did not send a letter to anyone. He posted it to his website. And it made perfect sense, a treaty agreed to by a President but not ratified by the Senate is meaningless.

Those are an odd choice of words. That's just in time for the 2020 POTUS and assorted congressional elections, I wonder what might be a big topic during those campaigns? It's like the politicians aren't even trying to hide their crap anymore. Just passing stop gap bills and kicking that can ever farther down the road. Eventually something has to give and it isn't going to be pretty.

Why does the name Tom Cotton make me a little uneasy?

There's just something not sitting right with me about that. But who knows, I don't really know his politics. I don't like the Patriot Act either.

Something is really weird about his name. For some reason I keep thinking Uncle Tom Cotton Picker. Sorry, but that is the vibes I get and I didn't mean to sound racist.

I don't like the patriot act, either, but how is the government going to find terrorist cells in the US without some kind of surveillance of the populace? That is the reason it was implemented.

I have used the airlines, experienced the TSA carry on bag searches and body scanning technology. I don't like it so don't fly unless I have to.

I personally haven't been harassed by police and haven't seen or driven through any checkpoints. This is probably because I drive only when necessary to decrease the probability of an accident, which doesn't help if some moron backs into your vehicle while it is parked, crunching in the side of it.

From what I have seen are people posting videos of police harassment that appeared to be instigated by the video producer so the producer can get video views.

Possibly my view will change in the near future, I don't know.

He clearly directed it Iran, even going as far as acting as if they needed a translation of it.

This guy is a yes man to those pulling the strings, if they need some one to spout off, he is their man.

You do not have the first clue about the Congressman. You really should talk to some of the men and women who served under him.

Being a good solders does not necessarily make one a good politician.

I don't care about his military service, that doesn't make some one a good senator.

I don't doubt they have good things to say about him, that is what friends do, talk good about you.

This man is calling for the stripping of the very things he was defending while pissing off a country that we are trying to do some peace talks with.
