Star Wars: Battlefront, the upcoming first- and third-person shooter from Battlefield developer DICE and based on the Original Trilogy, is aiming to run at 60fps...

Not many games overwhelm me with excitement, but after seeing this today, it's a bit hard not too!

Link To Gamespot

Some notable topics include the level of destruction Battlefront will have (interesting since one of the hallmarks of DICE's other series, Battlefield is destruction), as well as the number of planets, maps, and modes that will be available at launch for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Best start saving them pennies, because this game is going to be gigantically.... epic!

I remember when battle front came out that's the only game I would play for hours hope they don't disappoint although with the recent games that's been coming out I'm kinda nervous for it..

Battelfront and battlefront 2 were my favorite games when I was younger, I'm really hoping this one will be able to compare with those two.
I have it preordered so I have my fingers crossed it doesn't dissapoint

Looks awesome, but after the EA sanctioned disaster that was the Battlefield 4 launch, I'll be approaching this cautiously. Won't pre-order it, and probably only buy a few months after release, when the price has dropped & the bugs are patched out.

This is the smartest post I've read today. The problem with hype trains is that they move too quickly to stay on track. Everyone should spare their wallets (along with their self respect) and stay far away from any preorders. They have nothing to show aside from cinematic 'dev builds' that don't show actual gameplay. I'll be waiting till E3 in June to see exactly what they have to offer.

I'm not liking the idea of fewer, larger maps as opposed to several medium sized ones. Part of the appeal of the original BF's was the planet variety and scenario play; no two maps were exactly the same and each offered unique challenges. I really hope they're not going the DLC route and charging for each individual planet... at this point, it wouldn't surprise me.

I can't wait for this game. I was a huge fan of the older Battlefronts, what is nice is that this new one will be on PC. I prefer first person like the Battlefield series, so knowing that this will be basically like a Battlefield 4 mod, it could go down as one of the best games ever made. I have faith in DICE to do this right. This is a dream come true.

Not sure about those who had problems with Battlefield 4, sure there were some patch issues in the beginning, but a lot of the time it's also people having poor internet connections, not a strong enough system or a weak Video graphics card. Luckily I don't have that problem.

Here is an older video on some of the gameplay I found. For some reason the sound goes off in the middle and comes back on near the end, but if you have played Battlefield 4 ever, then you can pretty much understand that this game is going to be epic. Can you imagine flying a ship with your friends co/piloting or manning the guns like in the helicopters on BF4?

What about commanding a Star Destroyer with a clan? They could really do this right if they choose to. Hopefully they don't screw it up, cause this could be huge. ~$heopleNation

Now this is the kind of stuff I have been waiting for on the new consoles.

I had a hard time getting into starwars games because they just never felt right to me.
Kind of like how people tried for years to make good Lord of the rings games but never got it right.
(They still have not totally although a few gams I liked)

This looks FANTASTIC!
I hope it plays as well as it looks.
There are a few New Generation games that I have been seeing sneak peaks to that look like what I was hoping for, and this would be one of them.

I'll have to wait and see what kind of reviews it gets once it comes out before I buy it,
I've already been disappointed a few times with my xb1 and games that seemed to look great but once you started to play them, they kind of sucked. Need for Speed got me so PO'd that I will never by another one of their titles.
(bug that wiped out my saves after completing the game that was never fixed)

After that happened, I was much more cautious about the games I buy.

This is one of the games I've been excited for for a long time now, and I think DICE is a great company.

However, after EA rushed DICE with the Battlefield 4 launch disaster.....I am a bit hesitant. Im wary that the game will be a complete disaster at launch. Im worried that the game may end up having tons of cut content masquerading as DLC.... Im worried that EA will turn this game into a massive cash grab cow.

Because of EA and their past, I wont pre order and will definitely wait until I get to see other gamers opinions on the game.

Darkblade, You should consider building a gaming PC, there is nothing like it. I would be willing to help you out if you need any advice. The video cards alone dominate the consoles. Consoles will soon be a thing of the past, PC's will control everything, but as it is now the graphic cards on PC's completely bury any console graphics. Online universe play is leagues above consoles as well.

I grew up on consoles though, So I am not hating on them. I have had consoles all up until the latest XBOX, but I had all the play stations as well up until that time, and my family members have all of the more recent play stations and XBOX. I tried to convince them to stick with XBOX, but only because I love the Halo series so much, and we had a lot of fun playing those series together.

Anyway, I had the first pong sports console back in the 1970's. I still remember my Dad hooking it up on our old Zenith tv. Next came the Atari 2600, and even Intellivision too remember that? Maybe you remember Night Stalker? I had Atari and my neighbor had Intellivision. I loved to sneak next door and play Intellivision cause it was more advanced back then than the original Atari.

Those days were so revolutionary. I still remember when I got my first Atari 2600 for Christmas and the world that I discovered as a young boy. It was absolutely amazing to live during those times as a kid. Adventure, Pitfall, Defender, Asteroids, missile command, ET and even Raiders of the lost ark, remember them? Good times my friend.

Do you remember this movie with a very young Emilio Estevez bro? I had the full clip of the Bishop of Battle short story in the Nightmares movie, but the link is dead now. That is a shame cause a lot of people here would really love it. It suddenly has vanished, probably because of copyright issues. It perfectly depicts those early days.

Well here is the intro to the game, with no video any way. ~$heopleNation

Yep I agree, It's just too bad that EA is allowed to obstruct with their force feeding, what could be one of the best selling games ever. They will possibly ruin this game just because they want to rush it. ~$heopleNation

Thats because they always tend to show off the PC version in the trailers. These new consoles are great but they are not that great this time around and built on pretty medium specs. 1 look at the unreal 4 demo's on these new consoles compared to the PC version shows this quite well.

STAR WARS CELEBRATION: BATTLEFRONT DOES NOT HAVE SPACE BATTLES, PREQUEL ERA

Battlefront Producer Craig Mcleod added, “No space battles. It’s all about the epic planetary battles and getting that right. Fighting with X-Wings and TIE Fighters, we have that.

No space battles I guess.... No clone wars era either it seems only the Galactic Civil war era, only 40 players max (20vs20) and less in some smaller modes, no campaign mode/galactic conquest.

No space battles and a ton of DLC.

A smaller game than the last game 10+ years ago.

I hate how games are rushed out, unfinished and then they expect us the gamers to pay for the bits and pieces that should have been part of the original launched game. Destiny is such a game that irks me this way. SO MUCH of that game was cut in order to sell it off piecemeal as DLC down the road.

EDIT: Also, this is just a re-skinning of BF4 I believe.

Just as I feared, they screwed it up. How can they not have space battles in a Star Wars game? It sounds like it's just going to be X- Wings and Tie Fighters. I suspected that, because in Battlefield there are only so many Aircraft available, and there is usually the same idiots pitching a spawn tent right near them.

Those guys in buni11687's posted you tube video made a lot of good points. Why no Vader Tie Fighter or Boba Fett ship? Jeezus, they got the money, how about the Falcon with a crew, or like I said before commanding a Star Destroyer in a space battle? I am sure the consoles can't handle a huge space battle, so this is what we get.

All that money for a console, and their graphics just stay Atari. PC video cards no problem though, but that is not where they get the majority of their profit, which obviously is all that matters as usual. It's a shame. I might just have to bite the bullet and finally get Star Citizen. ~$heopleNation

Space battles were a core part of the previous Battlefronts. I loved space battles. I guess we wont be able to blow up star destroyers anymore..... I mean c'mon, it's star wars DICE!!!!! , how could they not put space battles into a freaking star wars game! Space combat is essentially the freaking title!!!! Deathstar, star destroyers, epic space combat that brings the empire down in the movies!!!!

It really wouldnt even be hard to make space battles anyways. Seriously, they were fine on the PS2, and now with all this extra hardware a decade or so later, they cant do it now? (well, obviously they can but they wont anytime soon). As for the engine DICE is using, the frostbite engine can easily handle leveloution, massive explosions, stable servers with 64 players, tanks jets helicopters etc.... all flying around and blowing eachother up on massive maps in BF 4....but no freaking space battles. BF4 had 64 player jets only and that worked fine. Space battles worked fine on consoles that are over a decade old.....

And why only 20vs20? C'mon DICE. Again, DICE, frostbite, and the next gen consoles have been proven to easily handle 64 players. Is there some giant innovation or something that's not being said that will take up so much hardware compared to previous games?

As for no clone wars.... I guess it's just only 2 factions to really choose from. I have a feeling that will get boring fairly quickly. I was more of a fan of the clone wars battles anyways. (No roller droids....sad face....well there's no classes anyways so I guess it wouldnt matter either way)

Im still anticipating this game, but Im left wondering what....what is actually going to "still" be in the game from the good old Battlefronts? Lots of my favorite stuff has been taken out and replaced with.....um.....?.....????????????? I guess just updated graphics? What's the point in that? (oh yea, it's EA....)

The more I read about this new Battlefront, the more I fear it will be the game in the series that completely kills it off.

If they wanted the next Battlefront to be another all star game like the previous ones in the series, all they would have to do is just keep all of the content already in those game, and just bring the graphics up to next gen, change the maps a bit, and make sure it's polished. Heck, I would gladly pay $60 for a Battlefront like that. Instead it looks like we're getting a chopped apart, watered down version of the previous games. (I hope Im wrong though. I hope there's something in this game that brings the awesomeness of Battlefront back).

It seems like DICE has finally confirmed one of the controversial addition to Star Wars: Battlefront. DICE Producer with Reddit name "DICE_TheBikingViking" has confirmed that AT-ATs in Star Wars: Battlefront will be on rails.

Yup, the good old AT-AT's will be on rails now. (a pre-determined set path....you wont be able to move it around, you'll only be able to shoot from its turrets)

The problem is that gamers (us) will keep pre-ordering and buying whatever garbage they put out. As long as they are making money, they can lower their own standards.

Battlefield 1942 was great because It was World War 2 era, but Battlefield 2 I think was much better cause of the graphics. I also liked how you could Snipe from the top of all those buildings in Strike at Karkand. Plus trying to take or hold that Bridge was fun.

You know what was a pretty good one? Battlefield Bad Company 2. I loved how in the beginning of the campaign it was back during World War 2 and you and your unit were on that Zodiac sneaking onto that Japanese Island.

Online play was great too. Underrated game though. ~$heopleNation
