Tina Fey on SNL pretending to be Sarah Palin. Most people don't know that and think Palin actually said it.

I can recall another incident from work. When I first started there, I did client contract newsletters. They'd pay us to provide templating, editing and printing services, and they'd provide content. So I could pretty much fix all the text in terms of grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. Well, one day I'm working along and a misspelled word catches me eye, but I can't fix it because it's in a photo they've uploaded. It's on one of their in-house bulletin boards they've done and they've taken pictures of staff in front of it.

I can fix everything about it, but I can't edit words in pictures!

Your mileage may vary....

....but understanding these types of things makes me far, far more effective at the various things I do. For example: understanding that a small touch of "crazy" can be indicative of bouts of brilliance can help me be more patient with someone who is eccentric, and thus reap the rewards gained from those bouts of insight. As a businessman...this is something to keep in mind.

Point being: some of those quotes have meaning for people for a reason.

All that aside: you can pick a Biden or Bush quote out of thin air and it is side splitting. My favorite is the one where Biden tells the guy in the wheelchair to stand up so everyone can see them. It is the epitome of being Biden.

(Actually, what she said was "you can see Russian land from Alaskan soil".
The SNL skit turned in into "I can see Russia from my from house", intended to be funnier.

*Big Diomede, population 0, is a small Russian Island which can be seen from Alaskan soil if viewed from a particular vantage point.

I agreed that to some people those words may have meaning. But to most people they only hold meaning because they are supposed to buy reputation.
edit on 13-4-2015 by Greathouse because: (no reason given)

There is a fine line between real ignorance and simple difference of opinion.

Agreed and there are miles of variance on both sides of that line as well.
