Summary:

Unsafe levels of dioxin were measured in a sample of Ben & Jerry�s brand ice cream, A sample of Ben & Jerry's "World's Best Vanilla"� ice cream was tested for the presence of 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin and related chemicals ("dioxin") by an independent laboratory.

On a total weight basis, the sample tested had 0.79�0.38 parts per trillion (ppt) Toxic Equivalents (TEQ) of dioxin. The concentration of dioxin in the sample's lipids was 5.1�1.3 ppt TEQ. Ben & Jerry's Homemade Holdings, Inc. states in promotional literature "The only safe level of dioxin exposure is no exposure at all."
Assuming the measurement is correct and sample tested is representative of Ben & Jerry's ice cream and based on U.S. Government information about the potential health effects of dioxin, Ben & Jerry's ice cream may cause about two hundred of cases of cancer among its consumers. Oh yeah. How to make Ben & Jerry's look foolish 101. Milloy does not believe that dioxins cause cancer so when B & J's website noted that all dioxins are dangerous, at any level - Milloy couldn't wait to show that B&J doesn't practice what it preaches.

Something to consider:

Both are now supported by a corporate front group, the Cato Institute, which is funded by industry and right-wing foundations to produce what can only be described as anti-environmental propaganda.

Milloy is a paid FoxNews.com commentator and played a crucial role as a "science expert" and lobbyist for tobacco companies in orchestrating the industry's "scientific" attack on public health concerns about tobacco and the risks of second-hand tobacco smoke.

The problem with Ben & Jerry's is it's not the "best" ice cream, though I doubt it will leave you impersonating a "Y" candidate for Ukrainian political office.

Notmilk.com eh? Wow, those PETA people are way out of controll. But they way I look at it, that means there is that much more USDA Prime steaks floating around for my consumption.

Back on topic. People seem to forget that Ben and Jerry's is really just like any other heartless corporation these days. Maybe they just got a batch of bad milk. However, they should be ablt to track the lot numbers of the icecream to the dairy and figure out where the cows grazed to do some test. Isnt thier milk organic? Or at least hormone free at any rate.

Reminds me of a simpsons episode: They did a comercial spoof about a new beverage: "Brewed by hippies, but distrubuted by a heartless corporation"
