Wow I just don't know what to say this guy was clearly running away with his back facing the cop..

At least they charged him with murder. I guess with this video evidence they cant not charge him.

www.postandcourier.com...

A North Charleston police officer was arrested on a murder charge Tuesday after video surfaced of the lawman shooting eight times at 50-year-old Walter Scott as he ran away.

Scott died Saturday after Patrolman 1st Class Michael Slager, 33, shot him in the back.

The State Law Enforcement Division, which looked into whether the shooting was justified, confirmed that the officer had been booked into Charleston County’s jail late Tuesday afternoon on a murder charge.

Well...

What can anyone say to that, other than what a stone cold bastard!?

Would you care to post a source for this video, in terms of where you heard the story, what network or paper is covering it, and so on?

Just saw this on the news. Seems the officer planted his tazer next to the body then decided to pick it up. He had said the man went for his tazer which would seem to be the reason behind the tazer placement.

Looked like the officer was way out of line. Eight shots fired at the man's back.

Eight shots (and he was still running until that last one) at close-ish range, and he still has to cuff him? What on earth was he shooting at? Was he trying for a wound, or to kill?

Victim didn't appear to be armed, so the officer obviously was afraid of....possibly the way he ran away from him?

I guess he just did not feel like chasing him..

Yes, it appears that the officer drop his tazer next to the guy, I'm assuming that was the reason he shot him in the back as he was running away, was the guy grabbed his tazer ...... that the cop had to drop next to him!

I'm glad he was charged with murder.

I wonder how this will be spun in order to justify the shooting. Killed over a broken tail light. If he was being arrested, is there some outstanding warrant. What ever happened to tickets...

no matter how hard they try and they will probably try hard , they wont be able to spin this one..

To me it is clearly murder no ifs, ands or buts about it

That's what I would think if I were a juror. How can it be justified? I don't see a way.

All I can say is "JESUS" I have never seen anything close to this ever and I mean ever in all my 54 years.
I am sitting here stunned after watching the video and reading the link.

I doubt I will post again on this thread because I need my sleep and this is not conducive to sleep.

I predict that they won't spin it at all. The victim is black, the perp is a cop. The usual suspects will either a) say nothing out of fear of being outed as hateful bigots, or b) be honest and admit that they wish it happened more often.

More than anything this is the reason why filming the police should be a constitutionally protected right. I'm surprised the person making the recording was able to get out of there without any confrontation from the police, he/she is lucky that the fence kept them separated.

The fact the officer walked over to the body and is clearly seen in the video casually dropping the taser on the ground next to the deceased is chilling, and I hope enough to put this POS in prison where he belongs.

That cop was too lazy to run and to stupid to use his Taser May he rot in hell.

If you look closely at the beginning of the tape just as the person started running away, you will see tazer leads extending from the cop to the person killed. Evidently, the tazer had no effect.

I know what to say.
That cop murdered the man. He shot him 8 times in the back. He dropped the stun gun next to his dead body. It was all caught on the video.

Absolutely right.
I was thinking that the guy filming it was a brave man.
It would not have surprised me to see the cop shoot him too.

I don't think there will be much debate about this case. I wonder though if it helps shed light for some people quick to deny dirty cops... this cop was doing the standard MO. Shoot, plant evidence, claim self defense.
