Interesting fact - I had to redact some material about the NSA even though it, too, was footnoted. It seems that something in the public domain can still be considered sensitive.

Any interesting proof for that "interesting fact"?

Because if it's public domain I don't believe it can be redacted...
That is a logical fallacy.

Or "sensitive" safety wise? (Trying to give you the benefit of the doubt there)

I see Dr Greg Hanson as a fictional character in a book titled "Strike the Dragon" - 2008.

The book is about National Security/Terrorism and involves the FBI, CIA and NSA.

Hmmmmm......?

There's also a Dr. Greg Hanson in : Protecting Industrial Control Systems from Electronic Threats

And that's not a work of fiction. Same guy? who knows.... but there's more than one person with the same name.

Let's wait for the chapter and then judge accordingly.

It's Greg Hansen anyway

His LinkedIn profile seems legit.

Of course not - it was redacted! It had to deal with revealing someone's name

Aren't you worried about a backlash from the NSA?

My book was vetted so not really although I'm sure there are a few people who would like to skewer me.

I think Greg should answer James right the way.

I sent the intro chapter and table of contents. That should lay it all out.
Thanks.

"Protecting the homeland from Terrorist Threats" is kind of different than "Protecting Industrial Control Systems from Electronic Threats"

If you read down from the link the Fictional Greg Hanson in this novel sounds a lot like our ATS Greg Hanson.

Welcome Greg, looking forward to your book, any insights into how the NSA works (or doesn't work) is welcome.

Quick question: would you say the NSA is doing more harm than good, with all the domestic spying?

"I'm just curious, what type of person takes a job to spy on and sell out his own people?"
Jumping to conclusions are we? The person who got sold out was me. Why? Because I was too good at what I did and embarrassed those who were not as good. Hold off on making your judgements please.

Fair enough. I wish you well. Welcome to ATS!

The very people he helped the NSA spy on (and who paid his salary in way of contracts with US government agencies) are the same people he now wants to profit from.

How did Snowden profit?

How about telling the story without cost, right here on ATS?

I am wary of this as I now contract with LexisNexis as does all States.

This is an interesting statement. Being in the public domain doesn't mean that it was "officially released". It could just be a rumor or released through non-official means such as by a whistle-blower. By you putting the same info into a book, even though you would be citing other references for the info, it would bolster it's veracity. Was that the case in this instance and was it something that touched on Constitutional law? (you know, all the stuff Snowden says they're doing)

It's actually pretty cool -MY BOOK- to have a former NSA employee -MY BOOK- speak with us on ATS at this -MY BOOK- time. I would expect -MY BOOK- the ATS community to ask -MY BOOK- some very pressing questions. I hope -MY BOOK- that something can actually come of this -MY BOOK- direct communication with someone once behind the curtains. Unfortunately -MY BOOK- I don't have high hopes for the later for -MY BOOK- various reasons.

I have only one question for you Greg Hanson. Can you continue without mentioning your book?
