I think the people in the Middle East including Iran understand and respect one thing only: Overwhelming Force. Otherwise they will fight with whoever, each other if Israel were gone. One way to make sure peace is brought to the Middle East, and I realize this is crazy, is for the US, China, Russia, and France, to join together is a special peace pact for the Middle East called the Middle East Peace Security Pact.

And make the declaration that if ANYONE launches a nuclear weapon into another country that the nations of the Middle East Peace Security Pact will all flatten the offending country into the stone age period! That should settle the nuclear weapon issue in the middle ease as they don't want to be destroyed beyond any chance at being a thorn in the side of the world. And yes, that means Israel as well.

End of Problem!

Fail yourself. I said the interview was "several years ago." I also never said he was irrational. It's asinine comments like this from people who don't bother reading posts that are causing ATS to lose its once-great discussion capability.

You said:

The phrase "Crazy like a fox" comes to mind

Maybe they use that term differently where you're from, and if so I apologize. Where I'm from, it means someone's irrational, crazy, unpredictable, and out of their mind. That's why I responded about that.

And I read your post. I mentioned that he's not the president anymore because his opinions don't matter with Iranian politics anymore. He has no power now. So even if you thought he was irrational and/or a threat, it has no bearing on the current Iranian government.

crazy like a fox
Implies the opposite. The individual referred to is not crazy at all, rather cunning (like a fox).

As for critical thinking, do you really believe that the current Iranian government didn't build on any obvious strategic advantages that the former government left behind? I'm talking about having nuclear weapons material in hand, purchased from former Soviet countries, not about continuing on with any single person's opinion or politics. 'Last I checked, you can't blow up anything with just an opinion, except of course a perfectly good thread.

I can think of a few M.E countries that would be happy to see Israel bomb Iran .

That aside, does Iran intend on building " the bomb ", I have no idea. But one thing is for sure, they are exerting their control on quite a few countries in the region right now.

Also, I can't help but wonder why is the U.S not making it mandatory that Iran release the U.S prisoners they currently hold ?

Agreed. Iran knows the US quite well. People forget this but the US & UK helped knock Iran's leader Mossadeq out of power. Then we (US & UK) put the oppressive Shah in power, armed him, and kept him in power during his brutal reign. Iran also remembers the US hostage crisis when they kicked out the Shah, our subsequent sanctions against them, our backing of Saddam against them in the Iran-Iraq War, and our arms sales to them during that war (Iran Contra Scandal).

Iran definitely knows what to expect from this deal & any other deal with the West.

Well the good news is Israel cant do anything about Irans nuclear capability unless it uses special forces on the ground everything is in hardened bunkers for which only a B1 B2 or maybe B52 can carry the ordnance necessary to do the job,Israel does not have a bomber large enough.

I even tried to be civil with you...

We use the phrase "cunning like a fox" to mean that, while crazy like one has a different meaning.

Also, you're the one who apparently needs to do more research on Iran. Their current president was one of the former negotiators for the previous nuclear talks & the people democratically elected him. In other words, the people wanted to follow the path he represents. Their previous government has no bearing on the current one.

And as I mentioned in this very thread, even Israel's own Mossad doesn't think Iran is trying to make nuclear bombs. I'm sure you know who the Mossad is, so I shouldn't have to spell that out for you or what it implies.

What would be funny is if Iran had nukes all along...
Showed them to the superpowers during these agreements and said...

"Yes we've had them as long as Israel has had them illegally, but we aren't stupid enough to use them, now tell Israel to stfu & move on with their apartheid lives"...

*shakes hands*

"We see, that's the game you played, well done"!

Israel should STFU

They should either present real evidence of Irans nukes or piss off and stop crying wolf.

And anyway they have a modern state of the art military, dont see why the world needs to fight there battles.

Been sayin' this for the past 10 years myself. Put up, or STFU. This obsessive fixation with Iran is getting old, and is actually generating a fair portions of the problems with Iran in the first place. Iran's government is batsh*t crazy, no arguments here. But the Israeli government is in need of straightjackets as well. They are just a different category of crazy.

In the end. Israel will draw America into a war with Iran. Israel would nuke America back to the stone ages to get what they want. Ask all the biblical allies of Israel ( the ones they slaughtered, every man , woman & child ) if Israel should be trusted. Not in a shat house with a muzzle on.

Israel has the right to defend itself and its borders. It doesn't have the right to attack nations because of suspicion or political disagreements. If Israel attacks Iran, they will be doing so as the aggressor, as the invading force, and they will have to accept the consequences of their actions when that happens.

Also, it's high time Israel gets sanctioned for it's own suspected nuclear stockpile. Why the double standard here?

Iran threatened Israel with destruction, so they should face consequences for their hateful rhetoric. Israel shouldn't get sanctioned for its nuclear stockpile because they are a rational, advanced democracy and Iran is a backwards, fanatical regime which should be obvious to anyone without severe mental impairments.
