This post doesn't show because you mistyped a closing [/ quote ] at the beginning.
You did it as [/[ quote ], so it looks like a fresh [ quote ], which blocks the display.

P.S. In return, perhaps you can explain why quoting you puts "Extra DIV" at the bottom of this one.
Do I want extra DIV?
It displaces my signature, whatever it is.

I didn't do anything. I was using my iPhone. I didnt do any quote closings. I have no idea what you are talking about and it has nothing to do with my topic so honestly I'm not concerned. No offense. extra DIV

I'm glad you have an anchor in your life. Kids are good for that.
Very long time no see, it seems. I miss seeing your recipes. You always have mouthwateringly good stuff.

He is my everything. I also have great friends who have been very helpful and understanding with my crazy lately lol.

Yea I haven't even been cooking myself!! I just inhaled a rotisserie chicken myself from the store. lol My mom dropped some groceries off. I have been so down and stressed I dont feel like cooking and that is when I know I'm down because cooking I LOVE but when I'm going through a lot or something stressful I don't cook. I will mess it up for sure! LOL

The last thing I made was a couple weeks ago for someone and it was homemade clam sauce and linguine, he loved it of course. I also made garlic bread. Gotta reel them in with the food! lol

Hope all is well with you! Nice to see a familiar face on here

Simple Stuff on the car....Fix it yourself (except fuel pump).

Don't let anyone dictate your ability to get around.

If you really want to show him....Get busy showing him you don't need him.

Fix it myself!!!!!!! If I could I would! I'm not a mechanic!!!!!!

My refrigerator broke a month ago, my sisters broke just a little earlier, she bought a new one, same problem, it would not get cold.

I used u-tube, looked for my brand and watched many for days and sent for a 30$ part fixed it...wow was my husband stunned!
Now days you can find step by step instructions with visuals for nearly anything!

Ok great for you but are you really comparing fixing a fridge to a fuel pump or timing belt in a CAR?!!!!!!

I am a female living in an apartment for crying out loud with a child. I am very well aware of what youtube has but I CANT FIX A DAMN CAR with no tools second it still costs for parts and said tools.

It's like I always say-"never buy a PT cruiser-don't even accept one as a gift." And to paraphrase Billy Connolly- " life is funny when your pants are down-and I like having my pants down."

HAHAHA! I should have listened to TinkerHaus!!!! He said not to get it but I needed a car when I was pregnant because I couldn't fit behind the mustang anymore. It was a nice looking car but my god it's been HELL! For what I've put into that car I could have had a nice used Mustang newer than the one I have but I dont think about it. lol

I don't mean to make light of your situation because we've all been to dark places-but sometimes if you can make someone chuckle, smirk or even smile and forget their problems for a second then I think it's worth a try. But a P.T Cruiser? that's scraping the bottom of the barrel-A penny farthing would be more fashionable and reliable and I'd wettingly upset (read p!$$ed) myself if I was in your position.

Oh if I don't laugh at the situation I will end up in a padded room. lol When it died Saturday I cried and cried and kicked it. I thought my foot would go through it, surprised it didn't. Once I got my rage out I just cracked jokes about it so I wouldn't go nuts! I had the GEICO rep laughing. He said I was the funniest person he ever spoke to about a broken down car. It is pretty sad when you own two cars and neither run!!!

I talked to my mechanic today and he is putting the fuel pump in the Mustang Monday and should have it done by Tuesday. I SOOOOO MISSED my Mustang. I love that car, sounds silly but my god I DO! I just hope it needs nothing else. It sat for a year and 7 mths. I drove it for almost 6 years with NO issues and I went all over the southeast US! I was afraid to take the PT to the next county lol. It's such a nice looking car but damn the engine is a joke! Even my uncle who is a mechanic calls it a PT loser as does my own mechanic. LOL I just laugh because what else can I do? Sure I'm annoyed as can be. I hate being without a vehicle but I should have one back soon! As for the PT I would rather blow it up lol

I wish you all the best.

Thanks for the laugh. I so needed it

THIS is why I love ATS

I know what it can be like to feel like your life is stuck in limbo and you just need to catch a break. It will turn out alright if you keep your goals in sight and are persistent and taking steps in the right direction (which it sounds like you are).

I am trying to! This whole last week and a half has been a real kicker. It seems like everything that can go wrong has. Ugh! I'm actually more positive than I thought I would be, definitely the meds! I have had some good news today in reference to my one car and a possible regular job. So those are two good things! I wont get my hopes up just think positively! It's so hard because my mind goes a mile a minute and thinks of all the bad things first lol.

You need to be able to envision yourself once this is over - get that image burned into your sight (not literally of course), and just do whatever it takes to work toward it. Any progress is getting you closer to that dream.

Funny you say this. I lied in bed this morning doing JUST this because I woke up in tears. I sat there and thought of a month from now and how things will be better and it's just a bad streak, one of many that seem to follow me lol Honestly I have gotten better at doing things like this thanks to having a great doctor, therapist and meds. I was a hot mess this time last year! I could never have handled all of this last year at this time.

“If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” -Martin Luther King Jr.

Best wishes to you and your son

I should have known because I had a Chrysler car before and hated it but I needed a car so bad at the time I bought it without thinking and my ex didn't offer any help either so I had to get what I found at the time. Yet he loved to complain about the car! AHH hence one of many reasons for the divorce lol.

On most older cars I can do basic stuff to them. I always joke to my Uncle who is a mechanic that when I have a house I am going to have man tools and learn to work on my Mustang and cars. I find that stuff to be a good skill to have but some of the newer cars are all computerized, screw that! I like my Mustang. It's easy to work on and cheap which is why my mechanic is fixing it first.

The timing belt is what went on the PT but if my old mechanic actually put an engine in it in 8/2013 he would have put a new belt on like he said and clearly he didn't! I barely put 10k on the car since! I am so livid and when i get my Mustang back I will be going to their shop with my invoice and demanding to see their receipts of the engine which my mechanic and uncle said they should have attached to the invoice. If they lied omg I will get a lawyer no joke. We paid $2800 for an engine and they had it almost a month! I wanted it towed to my regular mechanic but it was too far for insurance to cover so I had to take it to the one i had where I was moving from. I hope they didn't lie and it's just a misunderstanding but there is no way that belt should have gone if it were new. I'm asking my mechanic to keep it so I can see it and take it to the ones who supposedly replaced it.

Hey there,

First off I'm sorry for your situation I imagine it is very difficult for you right now. ATS I feel is always a good place for advice and criticism... even if we don't like what we hear.

I would see if you know anyone that knows how to fix a fuel pump and replace a battery on the Mustang. Do you happen to know anyone who works at a car parts store? Those guys are pretty car savvy and typically wouldn't charge as much as a mechanic and are usually more honest lol.

Both cars are at my mechanic who I have gone to since I was 18. I moved away for a few years and the mechanic there worked on my PT. My current mechanic that i have known for 18 years is AWESOME! He is fixing the Mustang for me and has always been reasonable and worked out a payment plan. It just sucks both are there right now and I can't work or go anywhere. He will address the PT next and I will just either fix the belt or sell it as it. I prefer to roll it into traffic lol.

Anyway, the battery is easy and should be the very first thing you replace! A lot of times the reason why a car won't start is simply because the battery is dead. In your case that makes perfect sense because car batteries die if they sit for a long period of time. Depending on how honest your mechanic is your fuel pump may not even need replaced.
No the car sat and it needs a fuel pump. He put a battery in it and did all the checks on it back when I had it towed to him. I trust him 100% and the battery is dead. The old battery is actually in the PT. I was going to trade it in for a new one. I had the Mustang towed to my mechanic back in February because I knew I was going to sell the PT and keep the Mustang. I knew the Mustang needed a battery, tires and regular maintenance since it was sitting. I never expected the PT to crap out!!! So it sucks they both aren't working, at least one isn't a big deal. I didn't expect the fuel pump but even my uncle said with it sitting and the age that it's not uncommon. It honestly doesn't bother me. I've had that car 7 yrs now and besides a clutch when I bought it I have put nothing major into it besides tires and oil changes! It's always been a great car!

If the battery is replaced and it still doesn't work do the fuel pump. Any car savvy guy can do one in an afternoon. I can and I'm no mechanic! Both of those things should get your car running good enough to put air in the tires and take it to a tire shop which can usually put tires on in two hours or less.

My mechanic referred me to a tire guy who will give me 4 used tires really cheap. I will just have my mechanic get them. I can't afford new right now, last time I put new tires on the Mustang it cost me $600 and I cried in the tire store, no joke. lol Once I get some money saved I'll put new ones on the Mustang. I just need it up and running so I can get to work!! The tires were old on it and they all need replacing from sitting so long.

Even if you go the mechanic route, there's no reason why you should be out much more than a day on the car, unless your mechanic is swamped with work.

I hope this helps.

Oh my mechanic said today they will put the fuel pump in Monday and get things rolling. I was waiting to sell the PT before I worked on the Mustang but now I need it back asap since the PT crapped out on me. So he is doing the Mustang first then we will worry about the PT Loser lol. My mechanic is HUGELY popular and always busy!! ALWAYS! He is a nice guy and been in business for as long as I can remember! I hated when I moved and had to find a new one. I never trusted them!!

Thanks for your advice and help

Just call me Al Bundy, Married With Children, but no foot fetish LOL. I get to do a lot of "chores." Seeing the Op's pics up there now, just scary! A timing belt is about 100 bucks, same for a water pump. Last year (fall) I rebuilt a 1998 GMC 5.7 V8 pickup for less than $1200 Including paint and rust removal, a new radiator, new rear leaf spring, new tensioner, new O2 sensors, new exhaust gasket, new battery, new brakes and brake lines, new fuel line, oil change, tranny filter/fluid change, new serpentine belt and ground pulleys and new driving lights, so yeah, the OP was had something serious.

Cheers - Dave

You are talking about a totally DIFFERENT car! I am talking about a 2003 PT Cruiser! It's NOT a GMC truck! If I could do all this myself believe me I would but I can't! I need a mechanic and I have one who is great.

I use to help my ex work on my Escort. He bought the manual and would do everything himself as long as he had the tools. I loved it! I want to learn that stuff but I live in an apartment and have no tools or garage lol. One day I will have a man shed!!! I would love to learn to work on my Mustang! The PT well I'd rather blow it up and toss it off a bridge!

You are lucky you have the skill to do that to a car! I WISH!

Seriously good advice. If I could do it myself I would. I HATE paying someone else to do it because it costs too much money!

Sometimes the dark clouds the opprtunities.

Had some great highs. Had some very dark lows. And looking back the lows were where some of my best opportunities existed. But I never saw them while in the dark. Only in retrospect afterwards.

Hang in there. Better things and better men in the horizon. Better cars too.

Marriage isn't meant to be a bed of roses, reconsider the need for divorce, you don't get on so look at the wider world and that is common everywhere so why not readdress the situation, by looking at all the circumstances that has led to the conflict. Its not too late.
