The Russian Consulate General in the Yemeni sea port of Aden has been hit Saudi-led coalition airstrikes, a source in the Russia embassy in Yemen told Sputnik.

“There is not a single intact window left,” the source said. A possibility of consulate closure and the evacuation of Russian nationals is currently under review, the source added.

Earlier on Wednesday a Russian plane charted for the evacuation of Russian citizens caught in the conflict had been diverted to Cairo, after the coalition denied it landing in the Yemeni capital Sanaa.

Thats what you get for staying in a war zone.

Usa and UK did the smart thing and packed our bags and buggered off.

Did we give the Saudis the coordinates for the complex by "accident"?

"whoops, we meant to hit something else"

With all the proxy wars there is bound to be some misdirected fire. I doubt there will be any extreme reaction, I'd be willing to bet Russia will respond by unofficially getting Iran into the mix in Yemen more than they already are.

Iran has little interest in Yemen beyond selling weapons. And Russian pull with Iran is very limited anymore.

As for the OP, this is pretty common in any conflict, nothing will come of it beyond Russia making a complaint.

I remember the "accidental" bombing of an embassy in '86 when a certain ally refused flyover permission during Operation Ghost Rider.

I mean mistakes do happen sometimes....on purpose.

I wonder if "air strike" is code for US drone strike? It wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Collateral damage should be expected in a war zone. They probably should have pulled their people out sooner. Whoops...

Unless Russia tries to use it as a reason to become involved.

Granted it will be more difficult to sell their invasion using the lie of "Ethnic Russians"....

Update** rt.com...

According to reports in the Yemeni Hun Aden, the factions clashing in Aden have also looted the Russian consulate building. Citing eyewitnesses, the agency claims the attackers seized documents and office equipment and took them to an unknown destination.

When contacted by TASS, the Russian Embassy in Sanaa did comment on the situation in Aden, saying only that over the last few days the diplomatic mission had been “working in emergency mode.”

Have to be careful hitting consulate buildings, usually they might hit some S-300's by accident and they suddenly launch.

All accidental of course.

Check this out:

A state-chartered Russian plane destined for the Yemeni capital Sanaa had been diverted to Cairo, after the Saudi-led coalition reportedly refused it landing permission, leaving scores of Russian expats awaiting evacuation to languish at the airport.

ahh, yes like in these cases

(7) Israel admits that in 1954, an Israeli terrorist cell operating in Egypt planted bombs in several buildings, including U.S. diplomatic facilities, then left behind “evidence” implicating the Arabs as the culprits (one of the bombs detonated prematurely, allowing the Egyptians to identify the bombers, and several of the Israelis later confessed) (and see this and this).

(8) The CIA admits that it hired Iranians in the 1950′s to pose as Communists and stage bombings in Iran in order to turn the country against its democratically-elected prime minister.

(9) The Turkish Prime Minister admitted that the Turkish government carried out the 1955 bombing on a Turkish consulate in Greece – also damaging the nearby birthplace of the founder of modern Turkey – and blamed it on Greece, for the purpose of inciting and justifying anti-Greek violence.

No, like in the topic of this thread.

Do you bother to read or just see what you want and try to add other things in that have nothing to do with the topic?

Should we go explore Egyptian paranoia when they detained an eagle as a Mossad spy? Or How Egypt accused Mossad of sending a shark to attack tourists?

Rebels in Yemen are backed by Iran and in turn by Russia. Attacking the Russian consulate, in their case, is literally biting the hand that feeds, clothes and supplies them with weapons.

You up to speed on the topic or do I need to explain it again to you? Or maybe you would like to talk about how the USSR sent Egypt and Syria false information of a planned Israeli attack, resulting in those nations deploying their military along the Israeli border, who in turn thought they arab forces were going to invade.

The information the Soviets supplied was false and the end result was to spark a war. Russia, Syria and Iran are as bad today as they were back then.

Or do you ignore anything that doesn't paint Iran or Russia as angels?
