Dunno. Haven't seen a Hilary and her emails being deleted thread yet. Puh-lease, they can extract information from burnt hard drive. Sad excuse really.

Was wondering the same....
Sure i read a post earlier questioning ATS and a pro US stance in post management...
Cant seem to find it anymore in order to comment...???

Anyways all I was going to say is ' That's free speech the democratic way'...

Yes they can and in fact do.

Do people just not read the t&cs?

It is clearly laid out in there

Yes ATS deletes threads and posts that violate their T&C.

I was just asking. Thing of copying all that I post and anything else I come across just for reference of course. Hate to lose out on something, ya know???

But what if it doesn't violate the T&c's?

Such was the claim made by John Lear. Search archives and you will discover the answers for yourself.

Almost all forums are not public entities that allow for any and all discussions that fall under freedom of speech.

T&Cs are in place to maintain proper decorum and maintain subject matter.

But really it isnt in a forum owners best interest to delete threads or posts on a whim and fancy or because they might not agree with something. Most likely any thread deleted has reasonable cause to be deleted for the benefit of the general community and the forum subject matter.

And some threads and posts just plainly dont belong.

Yes they can and are deleted all the time for infractions.

And there are rules about that too...posting info that's not yours without description, reference, links etc...theres a TON of stuff in the FRESHMAN Forum and a lot of T's and C's we all agreed to when we joined.

Folks seem to join and just start talking without meeting the initial 20 posts 1st in the rules...we do have banned topics, restrictions, decorum and yes...some censorship because unlike other sites...there actually IS an owner of this site.

SkepticOverlord keep things together along with some fair mods who help set us apart from other "questionable" sites.

And keep in mind this is not a new conversation. There are probably hundres of threads here with the exact same discussions over the years. All of which end the same way.

So, in essence, as I have found out, if someone doesn't like your thread, or it goes against they're beliefs as to what should be shared, it can and will be deleted.
Denying ignorance = censorship.
Am I wrong?
Herding the cattle ?

Do a search. This isnt a new discussion. That horse died over a decade ago.

You can pursue it. But it may not be to your benefit.

I'm new here but take a minute to peruse each forum topic and you will see its as close to "anything goes" without breaking laws or simply being stupid. Yes your thread can and will be deleted or moved if it is put under the wrong topic gets to far off topic ect. We have an open place for discussion about almost anything.

Thank you owners and mods I know your time is worth a lot and I appreciate this wonderful place for us to come and talk as I know a lot of us lack peers who can meet our discussion needs.

But this place has to have rules and leaders or there would be way to many threads on one topic and we would have people going off topic or just being trolls.

If you want to see what close to no moderation has go to another site, and I promise it will be hard to find things and hard to stay on topic in depth to get as close to answers as we can using each other as fact checkers and simply because I build off of each other.

That is a completely false statement.

No topic is ever removed for those reasons.

Additionally, nothing is ever actually deleted. We move topics that need to be removed to a non-public trash forum. Everything is preserved.

I am sure I will get the slap on the hand for stepping out of line for questioning.
But Isn't that why we all came here for?
To step outside the box, to think , to question.
To get an answer.
Not to be criticized for asking a question.
Not to be ridiculed, or looked down upon.

Take a look around, people step out of the box and ask questions.

Your same freedom is to question others for their questions.

All as long as it's in the right forum area.

Pretty simple.

Do so intelligently I doubt you'll see anything removed.
