Has the OP discussed this with the ATS Regent's Office, I think Neno would love to weigh in on this one seeing as he is a Curmudgeon and he should be involved..

Who knows, Neno may just give it his blessings, i doubt it, but it never hurts to ask...

I think the OP might be on to something else though. Some sort of mock game like he is stating would be kind of fun to do here on ATS. Once a week, a mock situation is brought to the table. Users who flag the thread are then entered to be drawn.

Hey now...I was just in Detroit. Well, we were north of Detroit, but we took a ride through downtown on the way home.

It's on the up and up...Downtown Detroit proper, I mean.

I was actually saddened and somewhat taken aback by the surrounding areas. It's been several years since I've been up there and to see the blight and decay first hand is quite unsettling.

Even more of a reason to hold a conference in Detroit!!

Would I have to leave my Anti-Obama opinions at the door??

I'm in! I have no fear.

While I can't imagine this being probable, the meeting and experience would certainly be interesting, to say the least!

I wonder what types of people they would look for if they were to, and for what reasons?

I'm thinking mysterious Jet Liner crashes and thus I will stay home, What a good way for the Government to be rid of those persistent and pesky questions with Links of course :-)

But... what if you ask the wrong questions... How do they 404 you in person ?

Sounds dangerous

I got a lot of stars for that post... And I guess because of the humor..

But think about it! ...a little further... no, no, more... go a little further...

Lets apply this forum rules and actions to a real life discussion...

Not so funny anymore...

Or at least something to think about.... real hard!

It will be funny to see if anyone is full if it. Like living in their parents basement and never had a date.

I really wonder if 50 people could adequately cover all the many excellent topic that we consider here? I know that my
specialty is with extraterrestrials, psychic phenomenon, and general things of this nature. To have a really good group, you would need people who could give well to multiple ideas and subjects. So, being good on one subject area is really not enough.

This is a conspiracy site, so all the "feel good" things going on here would have to be chucked. And then, would you want to ditch those who constantly find criticism in everything said on this site? Right there, a good third is gone between the two. Could you truly get a great response from those who "live" this site or would you get a more "worldly, well-rounded, more-informed" view from a lotto draw of ATS users? It's really hard to say. Would the 50 be intimidated by the chosen lot, or could they actually have a calm, open-minded experience with the many views to be offered? I seriously doubt that ANY subject matter would come up with a common consensus being our vast community of members.

The thought is exciting. Still, I worry about the "who all knows" the "what all" I might say. In an open group, one tends to blurt more.

I'd bite. But, my husband wouldn't like me gone....but he'd survive.

as one of the most hated liberals on ATS, I would be suspicious of any "invitation for a meeting" if you know what I mean...

I love where you went with it! Really, that idea could be a platform for a lot of fun and creativity (and undoubtedly some conspiracies).

As for meeting up with other members.. negative.

My curiosity would be enough to make me want to go but not if flying is involved. I'd rather stay on the ground.
