What if all of us on ATS pledged to only vote for third party or independent candidates?

And in doing so, influenced our friends, family members and coworkers to do the same. It wouldn't matter if it was a left, right or something else candidate. We'd be freeing ourselves from the two party system.

Until the electronic votes were calculated and your candidate, even tho clearly ahead in all the polls miraculously lost in a re-count because of lost tallies, suspicious counting methods and of course a mysterious glitch.

Hmmm, she should have plenty of money to buy up the electronic voting machines....she only put about one-third of the disappeared State money into her foundation, leaving plenty to purchase the election. I don't see how the other side can compete with that sort of "off the books" money.
The only real way I see to reduce the money in the campaign cycle is to limit the campaign cycle. Allow media advertising for only 60 days prior to the election. Media would fight such a move tooth and nail because it would significantly impact their revenue. If tobacco advertising can be banned, there is no reason we can't ban political advertising of any sort outside the 60 day limit. Politics causes far more destruction than tobacco ever could.

Its sad when the most you can wish for is the lesser of two evils and in the back of your mind you doubt you will even get that lucky... Reminds me of the Monty Python bit about spam. Just replace spam with evil and you pretty much have our whole political system as it stands now.
