BBC News - Why has the Nobel Peace Prize chairman been demoted? (Obama)

This decision happened last week and I find it ironic it took so long...and perhaps a conspiracy involved.

For the first time in its more than 100-year history, the committee that awards the Nobel Peace Prize has demoted its chairman.

But what made Thorbjoern Jagland step down?

His six years at the helm have certainly seen some controversies.

Barack Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009, less than a year into his presidency.

The European Union was recognised three years later, when the eurozone crisis threatened to rip it apart.

But it was the award given in 2010 to Chinese human rights activist Liu Xiaobo that has prompted speculation about Mr Jagland's removal as chairman.

China was outraged at the decision. It froze top-level diplomatic relations with Norway, imposed visa restrictions and banned salmon imports, a valuable industry for the Scandinavian nation.

So is his demotion a peace offering to China?

My theory is Mr. Jagland and Obama had an agreement that he would work for a peaceful agreement with Iran and nukes.
The timing is ironic (last week) and same as the decision by Iran to reject Obama's offer...for 10 year nuke program delay.

With no Iran deal, Obama's legacy is in serious jeopardy of having nothing to show. He was probably talking to Iranian "leadership" since his Middle East apology trip in 2009.

I put this general conspiracies to hash-out the details and develop this over time...until he leaves office...finally.

So you're suggesting that because Thorbjoern Jagland stepped down in 2015, it was largely because Obama was awarded a peace prize in 2009, and that therefore this is Obama's fault? The ODS (Obama Derangement Syndrome) is strong in this OP. Good luck with your thread, I'm sure you pasted it as a catch-all for Obama haters.

Besides, the COMMITTEE decides who gets the prize. Not just the chairman. And it was a unanimous decision by the committee. If they're firing the chairman for Obama, they should all step down...

Jagland said the decision to honor Obama was unanimous.
