Having endured months of comment that Crimea was spontaneously annexed due to a referendum, I am saddened that Crimea's annexation was part of a Russian conspiracy, a position that I have taken so find myself vindicated.

With Putin ordering Crimea's annexation, the farcical referendum was just the excuse. It was window dressing. Can Putin’s Russia be trusted now that they have officially admitted to invading a part of a sovereign nation?

Not surprising. The addition of Crimea to the Russian Federation was on their agenda for some time.
They succeeded, but they also work into the hands of western world powers.
It stilled the fear of Russian Aggression back into western citizens. It serves as an excuse to strengthen Eastern EU countries, and even, create an EU army.
It will result in the EU becoming more independent from Russia when it comes to energy and oil, which is a bad thing for Russia, as Russia's economy needs oil and energy export.

Part of how propaganda works through out all kinds of stuff hoping people lose track of the truth. Not to mention Ruddia actually employs bloggers to get the message out. LIke anything in life repeat it enough times and lies become accepted facts. Over and over Russia has been caught lying and worst part is Putin or in cases of the Crimea vote a department in there own government exposes the lie.

Buy humans don't recall what was said before only what's said now short attention span. That's why we are fed news in short clips. But when we do that it means put out enough garbage and the facts get buried in a mound of lies. I have to say Russia has become the master at manipulating western media. They play off there fears of not reporting the news as well as the tendency they have not to be reporting false news. We all know they do they just don't like getting caught.

I guess that's where I differ. I recall every statement I read . Time and time again when Putin admits his lies they Nashi army deflects or ignores his previous statements.

I was thinking to review some of the old Mother Russia ATS posters and quote them on the Crimea invasion by Russia. Sure would make a funny thread!

I for one realize that people can make mistakes. But when the same posters ignore facts and tout the same " party" lihe over and over. It must dawn on at least one of the " staff" . That those posters are spouting properganda with out any regards to the whole issue. IMO these people are only lying and attempting to confuse the import stories.

Posters that ignore pertinent facts and refuse to acknowledge admissions by their Hero. Should be warned about spamming the board with propaganda and if they fail to even discuss the new information but continue to lie/deny should be watched. When their propaganda becomes to outlandish they should be banned.

Membership is down because if anyone tries to discuss anything anti Putin the are attacked by groups of the same posters . They all star each other's post to make it seem like everyone agrees.

On the other hand there is the lack of the anti PUTIN posters to star/ encourage each other. At times through lack of unity it appears we are fighting for our post alone? ( even though many agree) Why doesn't the pro western side show more support for each other? Failure to support each other only strengthen's the oppositions side

Yea I guess the gas/ oil fields had nothing to do with it either?? There now I made that statement. The replies to me will in all probability be denied.

Then in a few months when Putin admits to that being the real reason. Nobody will want to discuss the war Putin waged for oil. Because we all know only the U.S. does that. (Sarcasm).

Regardless the U.S. practices a catch and release program. Putin practices a capture and absorb policy.

You have made the claim before that it was about gas/oil fields, but haven`t come up with any proof about it.

All you do is trying to make the impression it was about something else than what it was actually about, strategic and protection of Russian people.

Your logic fails when it was done in a rather hastily manner, as also confirmed by Obama himself...it now has every culprit of being done because of the coup and had not so much to do with the gas/oil fields.

It`s more the other way around, US made a coup to grab all those things and Russia having a strategic interest and historic ties with it, they grabbed it back...who did the first grab, US or Russia ?

Yeah yeah I've heard all the BS about the US coup to steal all the things from the Ukraine. The only thing you miss is that regardless of whether the US was responsible for a coup. All of the resources would've still remained in the Ukrainians hands.

The resources would've remained in Ukrainian hands maybe with US guidance. But the US would not have seized them and made them part of the United States like Vlad the gangster did.

That's back to the whole US catch and release program as opposed to the Russian steal and keep program.

Ok for the sake of argument. I will agree that the US sponsored a coup. That is just so you will reply without cherry picking one part of my response that you want to discuss.

The difference is that the U.S practices a capture and release policy. when we leave the country it is still in The hands of the citizens of that nations hands.

Russia takes a different tactic. They seized the most vauluble parts of the Ukraine and kept them. That my friend is called theft. The seizure of the most valuable resources from the Ukraine has taken all hopes from the Ukrainian people of economical and engery independence. And left them a weak vulnerable Nation.

If that is what you call fair and just treatment you should seek help immediately. Only sociopaths Could consider depriving a nation of their only chance of economical Independence fair treatment.

At the very least russia should Remburse the Ukraine for the resources Putin stole if they truly made their moves for humanitarian reasons. But the gangster Putin not only took the Ukrainian resources but he sent them a bill for gas!!!!!!

Yea and your edit said that happened five years ago. Yako Putin's partner in crime was in charge then. But I should thank you for that. Since Yako was giving the Ukraine resources away it seems that a coup was definitely needed To get Putin's partner in crime out of office.
