My cats also stare at definite 'imaginary' objects. They also wait in specific places for 'imaginary' things to come out. Maybe they are not 'imaginary'. Maybe they can see things in other dimensions.

Cats and fairies are natural enemies. Your cat was staring at the fairy to protect you. This is what my wife tells me. I tend to believe her.

Your cat could see an inorganic being which is hiding outside the visible light spectrum. Buy thermal camera it will be able to detect them.

a reply to: Smexy I used to have 2 cats that would do the same. We would be at the dinner table and they would both be in the living room washing themselves then they would both look like someone called them. They would be looking towards the out of view hallway ( for where we were) and they would be looking up like at someone's face that was in the hallway. They would look for minutes. If you would get up and go to walk in there they would blink, look around and go back to washing. This only happened maybe 3 or 4 times in close to 20 years.

Hey Smexy,

It definitely seems to be 'a thing' with some animals; years ago, I had a very disconcerting episode with my dog. I wrote about it briefly here:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

My mum and dad had just left the house, and my puppy, Jack (Manchester Terrier) was fast asleep on my lap whilst I quietly watched the TV. Suddenly, Jack sat bolt upright and began to growl angrily at the door through to the kitchen.

Slowly, his head traced a line from the kitchen to the sofa on the opposite side of the room. About mid-way on the sofa, his gaze dropped down as if whatever was there suddenly sat down. At this point, Jack went absolutely batsh*t insane, leapt off my lap and furiously barked at what I perceived to be thin air.

Man, I can’t tell you how scared I was.

Something which I couldn't perceive was obviously in the room with us that day. At least according to my dog, anyway.

Cats are not blind! They may see differently than humans, but they can see.
Some cats watch ice hockey on TV and try to get the puck!
They chase those lasers around too.

I think all cats do the staring thing. Usually it's tiny bugs you can't see with your naked eye.
They're very nosey curious animals.
