Bottom line is, don't tell parents what to do with their kids when it's something this mundane with such preventative benefits.

That's fine, so how about you, do you agree parents can cut labia from female infants if it is not needed?
Or is it only males you and lucidity like to cut?

I just outlined this. You are being deliberately obtuse now, arguing just to argue with no attempt to understand anything but your own disliking of it. If the removal of the labia showed a higher statistical significance of reducing or preventing diseases & cancers, of course I would support this. Beats the hell out of being stuck with an STD the lack of skin would have prevented or would be infinity better than labial cancer would be. I'm not aware of the labia having much impact on diseases, and AFAIK, labial cancer is exceedingly rare compared to penile cancer. Therefore, comparison invalid. However, if the playing field was level, think about the possible life-altering ramifications of being obtuse again before spouting off like this, ok?

The discussion was not about you praising the aesthetic reasons you want male infants to be mutilated for either, but you passionately did so.
I'll duck out now, I've made my point well enough and as this is a platform for debate it is now clear you struggle to do so in a logical or manner without needless emotion.
Your lack of words also speaks more than anything you could have said though, it is always good to learn something new about fellow members of ATS.

You asked if Lucidity or I prefer (or rather, outright assumed) that we advocate circumcising for aesthetics reasons. You're so hung up on the circumcising part that you're failing to see what at least I'm saying, and probably Lucidity, too.

As far as hygiene goes, I'm all for it since it has a proven track record. As far as medical reasoning goes, I'm also all for it if it reduces the prevalence of STDs & cancers (it does. like it or not) As far aesthetics goes, I'm a fan of it as the side effect. If it's a main objective of consenting people, I'm also all for it. Aesthetics are not typically the main reason parents circumcise, get that through your thick British skull.

Bottom line is, don't tell parents what to do with their kids when it's something this mundane with such preventative benefits. That doesn't bode well for the arguer. Good luck with your stance.

Studies show that there is a significantly less violence among people when their hands are removed at birth. It not only restricts the use of weapons, it also lowers the chance that a deaf person might misread a hand sign which is known to lead to violence.

I'm sure that is about as outrageous to you as your post was to me.

Edit to add:

I live in the first world and I suspect you do as well. YOU go tell the 3rd they are not responsible enough to be allowed to keep the all the skin on their penis. I'm not.

They don't get it unfortunately, and a lot of emotion appears to be inhibiting their debating technique.
The health/cancer link is rubbish of course, most of Europe doesn't mutilate their male children and we don't suffer these claimed medical issues anymore than the US.
...I look forward to a study showing higher incidences of anything bad in Europe as a result of most of us having foreskins.

Huh... well that answers two burning questions for me... what to call my condition starting at age 11 or so... "priapism" ...okay, thanks... and now I know it was that spider bite that caused it... not something called "puberty" ... stupid health teachers and fathers blaming it on birds and insects!

Arachnids are behind the turgid state of junk...

Controversial things some parents do to their children....

1. Vaccinate them.
2. Dress them up for talent shows.
3. Lock them up in make-shift dungeons and starve them.
4. Sexually abuse them.
5. Sell them into slavery.
6. Leave them to die of heat exhaustion whilst at the Casino.
7. Physically assault them.
8. Circumcise them.
9. Genital mutilate them.
10. Indoctrinate them to hate other people.

Yep, angry men may gather in sufficient numbers to protest what they had no control over. In the big scheme of things, getting your foreskin reinstated may be satisfying to some and irrelevant to others.

There are some men that I refer to as "Richard Craniums" - I wish that they could regrow the foreskins over their heads so none of us ever have to see or hear them again.

What I find fascinating is that we are so sex-centered that rather than apply this first to burn victims, who could desperately use this, we have to spend our time assuaging men who think they're missing out. Maybe they are, but talk about being self-centered!

Yeah, little 3rd degree burn victim, I understand that you are maimed and in terrible pain and need skin over most of your body ... But I need to get LAID first ...

No joke, our neighbor really and truly got bit by one of those and lost a portion of his equipment because he was too embarrassed to tell his mother about it. It had gone gangrenous by the time he finally told someone he had a problem or else they could have fixed it.

My thought as well in all of this. As I said in an earlier post, apparently the scientist have their "priorities" in order. Messed up though they may be.

I'm not going to reveal whether or not I am circumcised but I thought that it was hilariously funny that there's a group of spiteful circumcised men that actually made themselves into an official organization.

It is well known that circumcision is a Jewish invention that was invented, I believe, exactly what this article says it was for: to prevent disease and make genital hygiene maintenance more easily done.

I'm curious as to how they know that they have lost some sexual sensation by being cut?..I shudder at the thought of it being done as an adult..lol
The idea is ridiculous imo.

That's an invalid argument...
The foreskin is the most complex area of skin cells on mans body (fact)...
And skin is all one organ, so if they can regrow foreskin, that would be amazing, and their research findings may be able to be used for repairing other regions of the body, face, fingers, hands, ears, nose, eyelids, etc...

The arguments about the foreskin being useless are not true. It protects the glans and it has a lot of small glandular functions in the head ofnte penis that I don't know the details of.. But it's true and the fact are out there if you care to research. So the foreskin is useless argument = debunked.

The arguments about circumcision preventing disease, equally invalid, and untrue.

Wearing a condom prevents STDs not circumcision. It may reduce chances of infection from smegma build up, but thats not the same as an STI/D... Thats self inflicted... So cicumcsion prevents STIs / STDs = a dangerously misleading lie.

Dont loose you head over this debate people...
(Gay wedding ftw) budum bum...

The argument about cancer is fallacious too. Fact: Not having eyes reduces the risk of developing eye cancer.... By 100%.
Not having breasts reduces the risk of breast cancer... Not having a brain.. You get the idea.

Removing foreskin for other medical procedures. For example "Tightness" (the reason mine was removed at a young age) also untrue that circumcision is the only treatment that works. It can be effectively treated with theraputic alternatives, that reduce the foreskins tightness over time... No other medical reasons for corcumcisions spring to mind... So in that case all the medical reasons given to parents by doctors for this operation that I know of = debunked. If there are others please bring them to the table.

Would I have mine restored? In short no.
I am completely against the use of live animals in medical experimentation, and I'm pretty angry about this. Im more annoyed and upset for the bull than I am for myself. Go figure.

If they didnt experiment on animals? Perhaps. It intrigues me that this has breached the realm of the not impossible. Life and nature is amiracle anyway tho, so i guess its not that that unnatural, just unheard of within our paradigm... But nothing short of the miracle you see in nature with lizards regrowing tails etc would temp me. It would have to be a complete restoration with all the nerves and glands restored to fully functional state, as it if it had never been removed (I'm thinking thats impossible), and on the condition that it doesn't hurt during the regrowth period and also that it doesn't take too long to regrow.. And also that it feels like normal skin and not unnatural.... For example I don't want some kind of artifical "skeletal matrix" down there... I would rather have what I feel is normal to me now than something that feels unnatural in any way artificial or uncomfortable. .. But you never know it might grow on me
I kind of like the idea of having a layer of skin protecting my glans from rubbing on harsh material besides thin cotton underwear.

Sad to see the level of immature replies in this thread but almost expected in a way.

Yes, skin IS an organ, and someone who has had much of it burned off their body is in danger of dying. Someone who has been circumcised may be inconvenienced in life, but they are NOT in danger of dying because of what has been done to their skin.

In other words, the group whose skin injury is life-threatening has priority, or should, in any reasonable person's mind.

7 of your 10 are illegal, so I wouldn't call them "controversial".

Don't forget they lie to them about Santa, Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny, that should be right up there on your list with 9. Genital mutilation and 3. Lock them up in make-shift dungeons and starve them.

A friend of mine wasn't circumcised and he ripped it good during sex one time.... Said it was just about the most painful thing ever to happen to him...he quickly finished the job at the local doctor's office and thought why didn't he ever have it done before.
