Reports: Shots Fired at Copenhagen Cafe Free Speech Event

Danish media say several shots have been fired at a cafe in Copenhagen where a meeting about freedom of speech was being held, organized by Swedish artist Lars Vilks, who has faced numerous threats for caricaturing the Prophet Muhammad in 2007.

The TV2 channel said Saturday there were some 30 bullet holes in the window of the Krudttoenden cafe and said at least two people were taken away on stretchers, including a uniformed police officer.

Helle Merete Brix, one of the organizers of the event, told The Associated Press that Vilks was present at the event but not injured. When the artist is in Denmark, he receives police protection.

The cafe in northern Copenhagen, known for its jazz concerts, was hosting an event titled "Art, blasphemy and the freedom of expression" when the shots were fired.

Niels Ivar Larsen, one of the speakers at the event, told the TV2 channel that he saw two wounded people.

I would assume the delusional Muslim extremists are at it again. Who else would fire at this event?

Most likely yes. As it hasn't been confirmed (the perp has not been captured) we can't be sure, but almost 100% positive.

One person (civilian) is rumored to have passed away from the shooting. Still not confirmed.
2-3 police officers are also rumored to be injured.

One man is said to have pulled out a machine gun, shout something in arabic, then shoot and run.

Yes, all normal police have their service pistol.

They have also put anti-terror police on the job. They have armor and machine guns.

The police right now is discussing how to expand a lockdown in Copenhagen, so the perps chances of escape becomes smaller.

I'm guessing similarly to the Charlie Hebdo case - they will try to manhunt the perps and get them within 24 hours.

It usually isn't like that here. But terrorist attacks isn't an everyday occurence either, so it is hard to say.

Everything can happen at this moment as I see it.

FYI I live about 10 miles from the cafe, Copenhagen is a small capital indeed.


Just to add: Police have confirmed that one casualty (civilian) has happened.

I don't agree when it involves another persons religious belief.

There is no reason in the world I should adhere to someone else's religious belief system.

THEY are wrong in expecting that I should.

And here I am again wondering what kind of low IQ it takes to carry out something like this against freedom of expression.

Seriously, these people are so brain-dead it's a wonder they don't have 24 hour nursing care. What will it take for these lunatic idiots to finally work out that murdering people over a f**king cartoon is NOT going to shut people up or make them conform to their beliefs?

Acts like this will only encourage us all to start speaking out and mocking every religion on the planet in every way we possibly can. The public will be tweeting these cartoons millions of times, all around the world, and there is nothing these mentally damaged imbeciles can do to stop it.

There is one confirmed casualty and the perpetrators are on the run in a black volkswagen.

At least three policemen are wounded. One person described as "a civilian, age 40" has been killed. This person was not one of the attackers.
