You can't just merely compare the numbers when it comes to this war. ISIS conceal themselves in the community and make random strikes on those who are not expecting it.

Yes there may be 300 marines, but the chances of losing some is almost inevitable due to the nature of the fighting. We aren't talking WWII style front line fighting. This is guerrilla warfare.

300 Marines defending a fortified compound could likely withstand thousands of IS fighters. It's not like IS has airstrike capability, accurate artillery, tanks, etc.

They breeched Al-Asad, they did not capture it.

Heads are being stacked in piles south of your border and that doesn't bother the US enough to intervene. ISIS takes a half dozen heads and the US wants troop deployment....

Then why does the US bother with the ME then? Everything that happens in the ME, happens 10 fold in Mexico. Is it because Mexico is not majority Muslim that the US does not bother invading Mexico? Does the US only intervene against violence when they get to kill Muslims?

I know this might be a little off-topic, but I would really like to know, when exactly did American soldiers really defended American freedom or safety( WW 2 not included ) ? I cannot understand an American soldier that really believes that he's fighting for America in a country on the opposite side of the world. I did understand it why people would think that after 9/11, but why now, when we know what really happened? Like really, i just don't understand it...

Tell me the name of aggression, uhm, i wanted to say operation, my bad, where did American soldiers really fight for American freedom and safety...

Mexicans did not fly planes into our buildings. Mexicans are not beheading Americans (yeah maybe some time in history) but not on regular basis. Mexicans are not scheming to kill more Americans or our allies. Mexican beheadings are an internal Mexican problem. ISIS has decided to make us their enemy. Mexicans are not killing us because we don't worship the same way they do. I could go on and on. ISIS wants world domination for a backward degenerate religious belief.

We fight Muslims because Islam leads some of the weaker minded believers to go militant against everyone who wont obey and live by their belief system. Islam taken and followed literally is disgusting and backward. Moderate Muslims don't follow Islam literally or they would be burning people alive too.

Except that the location of the airbase makes it nigh impossible to move tanks or artillery into place. IS may have those implements SOMEwhere but not in the middle of Iraq attacking an air base full of Marines.

And without air superiority those tanks and artillary would be turned to burning lumps of scrap metal.


This is how it would go:

ISIS open fire with artillary

USAF fighters will zoom past and drop missles on it.


ISIS roll up in armor

USA helicopters shred them.

Either way they are junk.

Just look at what happended to Iraqi heavy armor and equipment back in 2003. And they had more of it and were at least slightly better trained to use it.


As everyone knows im the last person to be RAR RAR merika! But i know what modern weapons can do. And i know nothing can beat the US military in a standard toe to toe enagement,

all i can think of is those poor Iraqis is there no end to their suffering , i really do feel for them , the constant fear they must endure day in day out it's enough to drive one crazy.

Glad to see someone thinking of the Iraqi people. They have been through a lot and peeps are fast to forget the amount that have died and for little to no real reason..
