OUCH! Florida woman gives birth to 14.1 pound baby boy

A Florida woman didn't expect to give birth to one of the largest babies born in the state.

But that didn't stop little Avery Ford from coming into the world at a whopping 14.1 pounds.

Avery has set the record for the heaviest baby ever born at St. Joseph's Women's Hospital in Tampa. In fact, he is one of the largest ever born in Florida.

The average baby born in the U.S. weighs about 7.5 pounds, although anything between 5.5 and 10 pounds is considered "normal," experts say.

Only about 5% of newborns will fall outside that range.

And Avery is in a rare group. Only 1 in every 100,000 babies born weighs over 14 pounds at birth, experts say.

With all the bad Florida publicity in the news cycles this is one story that is nice BUT...Damn that poor woman.

I commend women who can go the natural birth route, but in this case, I will certainly make an exception. I am not a Madonna fan, but I think this quote certainly applies in this case....

Premie?? I was born 3 months early and weighed around 3 pounds. He would have eaten us both and still had room!!!

Yup 27 weeks here around 2 pound...my ears were all crunched up and took a few months to pop out and I had a dicky heart but that sorted itself out.
We are the special babies .

The biggest baby ever born in Texas plopped out at 16 lbs. We are winning the war.
