In correctional facilities we have C.Os...check
In school we have campus police..check
In correctional facilities we have metal detectors..check.
In school we have we have metal detectors..check.
In school your locker can be raided or inspected without warning..check
in correctional facilities your locker can be raided or inspected without warning..check
In school deadly force can be used against you by school officials..check
in correctional facilities deadly force can be used against you by school officials..check

So the difference between a corrections facility and school is kids get to sleep at home??

Spider, the interesting thing to me here in this discussion has is how several folks who are typically anti-government are all for officials being given more power to coerce, punish and even terminate anyone who doesn't toe the official line. We'd all like to think that all of our teachers are merely there in the classroom for the benefit of the students, but sadly, many are also there to reinforce the concept that we must "Obey."

It's ironic, sad and paradoxical to see folks pimping themselves out merely to sustain their political agenda.

The ability for abuse is already there. Such is the reason to arm thy self.

A new law does not bring in more abuse, nor does it curb it. Laws only restrict the person obeying the laws.

But again, in this case, if you don't want to be shot..don't do the action.

You really did make me oh so sad.

Funny, as it doesn't take much to recognize a person that has no respect for others property or the laws surrounding them.

But, I am sure you wouldn't squeal if someone took, say your car, just because they were "poor".

Amen, for a number of yrs now there have been a push in some quarters to have guns everywhere in churches, bars and on campus, sponsored by the fear mongering NRA.with an eye not for gun safety or responsible gun ownership but for arms manufactures and dealers, fear sells guns.

Due process is for the Govt.

That is why I can kill someone in self defense. The Govt has the trial process to adhere to, in order to kill someone.

I don't have to offer due process to anyone.

SO ... respect for property only exists in those who believe as you do? That must be a really tight logical loop.

What BS! Believing that human life, in general, is worth more than the average material good is equivalent to a lack of belief in the rule of law, or of law enforcement, or a belief in communism, socialism, etc.?

Equivalent to saying that someone should be able to steal because they are poor?

No one has said that, yet, as usual, the subject of gun rights invokes all the execrable right-wing cliches ...

... and the purveyors of those cliches.

What a world.

It's impossible to make a sociopath sad...

Though you have taught me they use sarcasm... Not very well, but nevertheless use it...

I'm not implying people shouldn't have respect for others property...
But I don't believe a bullet is the answer, barring extreme cases like theft of a diabetics insulin for example...
Or an asthmatic's inhaler...

But for a 12 pack of Bud... Or a tip jar... Or a useless multi manufactured, easily replaceable item from Walmart that I'm guessing came to less than 20 bucks...

There is no need for a bullet in those situations.

I don't have a car!

More Progressive dramatic hype.

If I have this take on MY personal property rights, and I exercise said rights with lawful reactions, there is no issue.

If you have a different take on YOUR own personal property rights, and you exercise said rights regarding YOUR property, there is no issue.

What we have here, is yet again, another instance where a Progressive pushes to instill their own views onto someone else. Basic Progressive ideals at its finest.

And gun rights wasn't even brought up. I love how you work to throw that it. Imagine that. A Progressive, making Progressive arguments.

But, let's look at is this way. As a child, most people look at fire, put their hand close to it, feel that it is hot and can burn. The normal reaction is to not put your hand in/near the fire where it gets burnt.
You, and several other here, wish to basically be mad at the fire for burning your hand. Only to curse it and then argue why society is to blame for you putting your hand in the fire.
That is the basis of your views.

Don't want the reaction, don't do the action. Very very very simple.

My really good stuff is reserved for people that are worth the effort.

But, like just about ever other person here from the UK, you chime in on things that really don't concern you, nor do you have any real working knowledge of.

How would you react, if someone stole your favorite fedora?

I'll say it again...

Maybe you should join an American Forum if you don't want to hear opinions from around the Globe.

I'd take the Fedora back... Without the cowardice of a bullet in a situation that doesn't call for one.

Here is a reasonable action, someone took your favorite #2 pencil or pen off your desk, remember this is "school " we are talking about ,you tell the teacher if you don't feel like bust him or her up side the head, the teacher send a message home to his/her parents have them return the property with sunny boy in toe and make him apologize, all without busting a cap in his azz.

Nothing pisses me off more than Americans who post on a global forum then tell non-Americans who reply that it's "none of our business" and "you ain't from here so you have no right to an opinion".

It's sheer arrogance and stinks of hypocrisy.

Oh by all means, continue to banter on. Nothing amuses most Americans more then a foreigner rambling on and on about things they really know nothing about.

I do my best to not push for the ignorant and uninformed to be silent.

As for your fedora, it is just property. I mean, if some poor little hipster needed it, who are you to deny them.

And who has said that isn't reasonable??
I haven't.

What I have stated is very much the same from my start here on ATS.

If you don't like the possible or inevitable consequence of your actions, you shouldn't do that action.

If I know there is a possibility of a great punishment for an action, I will forego that action.

WOW. Poop called, says vomit smells bad.

You see, hypocrisy would be an American, telling you to mind your own business, then jump in on threads dealing with issues outside of America.

You really should get your anecdotes and such straight.

More Progressive dramatic hype.

I just needed to add the word progressive here, I'm NOT sure you used it enough in that post.

This is a Republican bill yes? How is this a progressive initiative being hyped? Oh you mean no one can reply in detraction to the bill without being labelled progressive as an insult?

Childish debate tactic.

You'd be surprised how much I know despite coming from London...
Global affairs interest me...
That's why I joined a Globally motivated website to learn, and share opinions...

Morallity is not exclusive to you in this topic...
I could know less than nothing about your Politics and Law and still know that shooting someone for petty theft with no threat of injury, is the mindset of either a Gun Rights Pusher (rather than defender) or a complete sociopath...

Whichever one you identify with is immoral, so it's not really relevent.

Do you have an intelligent rebuttal to anything that's been said in this thread...

Because so far all you've done is insult people, complain about people's opinions, make assumptions and act as a stooge for the Law Makers...

The Wild West era of "shoot that guy for his minor transgression" is long gone...
& if it were to return, as a Law Makers lacky, you wouldn't be that popular anyways...

I already explained the Fedora situation...
Do not assume that I advocate for theft...
I just think there is a better way to deal with it than a Hollow Tip to the back of the head...

As to your amusement, you do not have the wit to have a full blown back and forth without ad hominem & deflection...

The ball is in your court...
Let's see if you take it home complaining about foreign opinions or if you have the brain capacity to put together a cogent rebuttal!
