BREAKING - ACTIVE SHOOTER: On roof top of 1700 S Federal Hwy in Palm Beach CO, Florida in a sniper perch threatening to shoot civilians.



Reports are coming in via Twitter that the man is naked. He's also threatening to shoot police.

Why would a sniper in a perch make it known they were going to shoot civilians...seems like that is a bit ironic that they would go and hide in a perch then let the world know what they were about to do.

A Handgun? Wondering how this is a sniper perch, or if they are just saying that for headlines or something. Wouldn't that just be a guy on top of a building threatening to shoot people with a pistol? I can't imagine he would be able to hit very many people with a pistol from on top of a building....sounds delusional.

Apparently he is naked too....

There's apparently a naked man on a building rooftop on a sniper perch, with a gun. This according to Palm Beach County Alerts.
According to the alert, numerous Palm Beach Sheriff's Office and Palm Beach Fire Rescue units are surrounding the area, located at 1700 S Federal Highway in Lake Worth. The area has been evacuated, according to the report.

That would indeed be a twist if ever there was one, but I get the feeling this is likely a random bath salt or similar addict again. Just a hunch, that stuff is still a big problem down there in some areas.

I thought they just ate people. I had no idea people were still using that stuff....doesn't it have a 50/50 chance of really messing you up?

A friend's spouse got hooked on the salts, and turned into a raging beast. He's yet to eat anyone, but he's off his rocker now & very violent. It's a hell of a turn-around from a very homey, passive person to veritable monster (I think their divorce is finalized in a few months) If the odds are 50/50, he drew it for massive brain scrambling.

"Sniper"? Really? Do they know who this is already or is it just some yahoo with a gun that they are sensationalizing?

Clocktowers aren't fashionable for these events anymore?

WTF is wrong with people? I don't think being naked was necessary, this guy obviously has mental issues. Hit him with a sleeping dart and put him back in his strait jacket.

Reports from the scene indicate the "naked sniper" is now yelling that he's going to shoot.

Exactly what is the range on a handgun (I know it's hard to tell unless you know the individual model)? Makes me think this whole act was on the fly and not well planned. Also the nakedness screams snap more than premeditated.

Sounds like a spun out drug addict on meth or the likes. For some reason they feel compelled to strip and go out in public. I can't imagine that he thought this out, especially armed with a pistol and perched on a roof naked. Hopefully no one gets hurt and he can get some help.

Effective range? Probably about 25 yards, assuming a skill level of just basic proficiency for the user, understanding that it is indeed the user that's the limitation. Some people who have trained can extend that significantly, but I suspect that's not the case for this moron.

Not "sniper".

Try dude, naked or otherwise, with a gun. "Sniper" gives him way, way too much credit.
