I would most likely continue the task I was doing at the time. ie, housework, gardening, laundry, playing tf2

I would hope to learn as much as possible from the team which made contact. I'd be glued to the news and relevant research. I'd probably try to get as close a look as possible first hand.

I'd also know that my field of astronomy and astrobiology would become massive with a lot of money flowing into various projects to study the visitors, their point of origin, etc.
