why do they (islamic terrorists) hate us (u.s. and the west) and what do we do about it?

some of the reasons they hate us that come to mind are...
1. u.s. foreign policy in general
2. israels treatment of palestinians and u.s. foreign policy of backing israel
3. u.s. bases in muslim countries

i'm sure there are more reasons including the fact that they might view some of our culture as hedonistic, drinking, drugs, scantily clad women, etc etc...

some people say we can't negotiate with terrorists but i think in a way we have to at least open up a dialogue with them, we can't just round them all up deport them, imprison or kill them, that would just create more terrorists.

in my opinion some of the root causes can be addressed and worked on but the fanatics that want to create sharia law and take over non muslim countries are going to be extremely difficult to deal with. it will take a lot of help from within the muslim communities to denounce that idealogy if we can ever live in peace. i realize the islamic terrorists or radicals however you want to call them are the minority but how can we trust muslims living in the western world knowing full well they could possibly be sleeper cells. unfortunately 1 bad apple can spoil the bunch.

so what are some fellow ats'ers ideas and opinions about why they hate us and what can be done to ease relations with the muslim world and stop terrorism?

One word.

Jealous.

They hate us because we do not live according to the rules and stricture of their religion. Our Western ideals and freedoms are antithetical in nature to their religious beliefs, and their religion is a theocratic system when practiced in certain sects which means that church and state are not separate entities and cannot be separated.

So while you can try to point the finger at those things you listed, they are merely symptoms of where the cultural faultiness lie between Shari'a Islam and Western Civilization. Even absent those things, there is friction. See the incident of the Barbary Pirates and study why it occurred to understand this. America hadn't even formed a foreign policy before there was friction between our nation and the Islamic world.

If we stopped creating the terrorists and funding them when it suits our needs, maybe then we would start to get along?

Everywhere you go, some people will be evil. They twist everything in their religion around to justify terrorism. There are evil people on both sides of the spectrum. You can't invade so many countries and cause so many problems and not expect a group like Isis to form. Would any american or Canadian stand idly by while their ways of life are destroyed? Dont think so..

How can anyone be trusted? It's not just moderate Muslims turning to extremism, there's all sorts of people converting to extremist Muslim beliefs...

Maybe regular peaceful Muslims are the least of our worries, maybe it's the white kid down the road that has decided to turn into an ISIL/ISIS sympathizer.

The use of drones in some countries isn't helping either.
Kids shouldn't have to grow up being afraid of clear skies.

These religious volunteers dont do much unless they are instructed to by their so called religious leader. That means these realious fanatic volunteers are not the cause of terrorism. They are just uneducated fools who volunteer to sacrifice their life on a lie. Just liek Our soldier are. Our soldier are made to sacrifice their life for lies as well.
Some of Our soldiers are even deeply religious. But we dont Call them terroris. No, we Call them herros for sacrificing their slives so that others dont have to.

Islamic terrorists spend most of their time and energy killing and terrorising their fellow Muslims, or in the case of Nigeria ,the local Christians. The hatred of the West is that we occasionally get in the way.
