Standing allows to use our hands for more uses I assume while still keeping stability.
So do you think all intelligent life would follow the same process?
Also is then the next step to being closer to eliminate the need for physical movement mechanics through a shell at all?
Is controlling everything mentally the next step to attaining God Level powers?
Can we ever hope to defeat God by being equally as diverse in not needing a singular shell?

Your the master and supreme being, I'm pretty sure a fictional character like God is no match.

I suppose it depends on your definition of intelligent.
How about a dolphin? No legs at all.

Whales and Dolphins. In addition Elephants and even Felines. The main intelligences on earth and in the universe from the mammal side.

Parts of the globe are even shaped with land masses to resemble the elephant the lion the dolphin, etc.

I didn't see a gorilla face so think primates are the added feature.

Pack hunting by predators displays intelligence. Heres some footage of Chimpanzees hunting Colobus monkeys. The analysis includes some thermography…

As others have mentioned, intelligence circles mostly around mammals. Of course, as stated prior to my post as well, many intelligent mammals as in Dolphins (for their adaptive minds and gentle hearts), Cats (For their memory's capability and their adaptive abilities), and Squirrels, who, despite being small, are probably the most intelligent mammals. they are capable of anticipating human movments, even completing arithemetic calculations! (Squirrels use their four legs to run, but two to stand. Is that Bi-Pedal?)

My cats are far smarter than any of us.

I'm pretty sure that Cats have a nefarious plan to infect us all with Toxoplasma gondii. Their ultimate goal is to turn all "cat ladies", into schizophrenics. Sneaky little felines!

A parasite responsible for toxoplasmosis - Toxoplasma gondii - may be involved in the cause of around a fifth of schizophrenia cases in the US. This is according to a new study published in the journal Preventive Veterinary Medicine.

...

Some studies, however, have linked T. gondii infection to mental health conditions. In 2012, for example, Medical News Today reported on a study linking T. gondi to increased risk of self-harm or suicide among new mothers.

I've wondered this myself, but I don't have hte science background and the mind to explore it. It makes some sense to me I guess because if there's a shared common physics in the local univese then it might make sense if intelligent beings tend to assume a particular form in accordance with the shared common physics.

I like the idea of "anything goes," but I don't think the world always works hat way. I know I've pondered on the idea "Humans live in a gas atmosphere which shows fluid dynamics. Fish live in a liquid atmosphere which shows fluid dynamics. Why can't fish become intelligent someday? Would they build cities in the currents or on the bottom of the ocean?"

What's the cheapest/quickest way to the stars for intellignet species? It seems that'd be the route theyd most oftne take.

What makes you think humans are intelligent beings? How is intelligence being measured?

No offence, but if squirrels are so intelligent then why do they continually run out in front of my car? You would think they would learn from seeing their relatives and friends being squished, but no...

On topic, I don't think being bi-pedal is necessary. However, if you listen to contactees, then it would appear that most if not all intelligent space faring races have this trait.

The better question is, are any beings intelligent?

They also can remember where they bury 99.5% of their nuts every winter.
Blimey I have trouble remembering where I left my keys and wallet after just one big sleep
