Not sure why they aborted landing after shedding so much speed and deploying TRs. The airframe I bet was pretty stressed by the rapid thrust changes
and then adding a tail strike is just not good. That aircraft should be down for a while.
JAL 123 was one of those accidents that was brought up in about every other class in A&P school. Terrible outcome and lots of lessons learned.
After 123 I hope everyone at Boeing and JAL go at this a little better.
